The Salvation Army Hospitality House Shelter is hiring a Full Time Intake Worker.

LOCATION: Tucson Hospitality House -1002 N. Main Ave. Tucson, AZ 85705

PAY: $11.17 an hour

STATUS: FT- Saturday-Wednesday 2:00pm-11:00pm

QUALIFICATIONS: ï

ïHigh School Diploma/GED required

ïAble to maintain a non-judgement attitude and a professional approach working with clients

ïAbility to use HMIS and Bridges software program

ïComputer literate in MS Office Software

ïAbility to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances

ïAble to handle crisis/emergency situation or services for the homeless and to utilize crisis intervention, crowd management and conflict resolution skills

ïExperience working with homeless population

ïAbility to assess at risk participants and situations

ïExcellent verbal and written communication skills

ïSuccessful background clearance

RESPONSIBILITIES:

ïManage check in of clients upon arrival, using proper sign in procedures, to include baggage checking and storage, cell phones, medication, weapons and any other items using log sheet accurately

ïManage general operations of Intake area, and client needs staying in house, providing information and referrals, medication disbursement, access to luggage and items checked in as needed

ïConduct breath analysis testing on all clients entering shelter and any suspected to be intoxicated, using a breathalyzer devise, determining eligibility to receive housing based on the results of BAC level

ïPosition will work independently with minimal direct supervision during shift. Because of this excellent documentation will be required and checked against surveillance footage randomly

ïMonitor and supervise clients, investigate and report activity and incidents appropriately, or as needed to emergency responders, such as police, fire and/or ambulance personnel, according to established guidelines

ïMaintain a visible presence at all times in the facility to deter criminal mischief

ïProvide accurate and through written communication in the (IR) Incident Report Log Book for management and other staff review

ïGather statistical information from participant sign-up sheets, laundry, church and client registration and enter into HMIS, as well as other various services provided to clients during all stays

ïComplete HMIS Intake Assessment, V1-SPDAT packets on any clients arriving as requested

ïAnswer incoming telephone calls

ïImplement a minimum of 2 regular facility, dorm and restroom checks, documenting times and any activity

ïMonitor facility camera system

ïUse proper radio procedures in conjunction with partnering staff and custodians on duty for various needs

ïProvide clients with requested forms, i.e., grievance, laundry, etc.

ïProvide hygiene items, i.e., shampoo, razors, body wash, towels, as needed

ïReview shelter rules and policies and procedures with clients as necessary or questions arise

ïTake necessary precautions with clients to prevent damage to the facility

ïInteract with other agencies providing guidance and direction for special circumstances of clients, arriving by police escort, or released from the hospital

ïMaintain safety and security of clients and staff, monitoring front doors, allowing access only to authorized persons

ïEnforce all house rules, regulations, & policies

ïEnsure blanket distribution box stays supplied at the outside front door beginning at 9pm

ïContact Program Manager when there is an emergency, following the chain of command contact list in mangers absence

ïAttend all staff meetings and relevant training seminars as directed

ïOther duties as assigned by supervisor as it relates to the position of Intake Worker

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
