Job Description

Position: Facilities Specialist 3P (Plumber)

Department: Facilities

Job Summary: This is the third in a series of three (3) classifications. Incumbents work at a high level of expertise, exercise judgment and independence in performance of duties, and will be assigned the responsibility to lead or instruct others. This position will independently perform maintenance, troubleshooting, installation, repair and/or upgrading, and testing of all water and gas distribution and waste water systems, equipment and fixtures. They will also assist other team members with all phases of building maintenance including carpentry, painting, plumbing and electrical systems. Act as a team lead for other workers assigned to his/her projects and work requests. All work is performed throughout the Gaming Enterprise Divisions (GED) buildings and facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities (specific areas of responsibility include but are not limited to):

1. Accurately performs the duties of Facilities Specialist 1 and 2.

2. Performs routine and complex maintenance activities with or without supervision.

3. Accurately maintain: logs, preventive maintenance schedules and other records.

4. Responds to after-hours emergency calls, as needed.

5. Prepare estimates of labor and/or material costs from blueprints or work plans and negotiate contracts.

6. Completes work orders either alone, or in cooperation with other team members.

7. Provides on-the-job training for crew members on specific job tasks and/or compliance with regulations.

8. Observes all health and safety standards; ensures work related injuries or incidents are promptly reported to their supervisor and to Security.

9. Maintain an accurate inventory of tools and materials.

10. Consults with their supervisor on status of current and future projects.

11. Confers with their supervisor to review achievements and to discuss needed changes in goals or objectives resulting from current or projected future status or conditions.

12. Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, streamline work processes, and work to provide quality seamless guest experience.

13. Assemble pipe sections, tubing and fittings, using couplings, clamps, screws, bolts, cement, plastic solvent, caulking, or soldering, brazing and welding equipment.

14. Fill pipes or plumbing fixtures with water or air and observe pressure gauges to detect and locate leaks.

15. Review blueprints and building codes and specifications to determine work details and procedures.

16. Study building plans and inspect structures to assess material and equipment needs, to establish the sequence of pipe installations and to plan installation around obstructions such as electrical wiring.

17. Maintain records of assignments and produce detailed work reports.

18. Perform complex calculations and planning for special or very large jobs.

19. Locate and mark the position of pipe installations, connections, passage holes, and fixtures in structures, using measuring instruments such as rulers.

20. Measure, cut, thread, and bend pipe to required angle, using hand and power tools or machines such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, and pipe-bending machines.

21. Install pipe assemblies, fittings, valves, appliances such as dishwashers and water heaters, and fixtures such as sinks and toilets, using hand and power tools.

22. Cut openings in structures to accommodate pipes and pipe fittings, using hand and power tools.

23. Hang steel supports from ceiling joists to hold pipes in place.

24. Repair and maintain plumbing, replacing defective washers, replacing or mending broken pipes, and opening clogged drains.

25. Direct and engage in pipe cutting and preassembly and installation of plumbing systems and components.

26. Install underground storm, sanitary and water piping systems and extend piping to connect fixtures and plumbing to these systems.

27. Clear away debris during renovations.

28. Use specialized techniques, equipment, or materials, such as performing computer-assisted welding of small pipes.

29. Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of equipment, products, techniques and standards used for construction, maintenance, and repair of facilities plumbing systems but also to include, electrical, sheetrock, painting and masonry.

1. Knowledge of chemicals used in the trades.

2. Knowledge of occupational hazards, safety standards and necessary safety precautions and to work safely without presenting a hazard to self or others.

3. Knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and codes.

4. Proficiency in soldering, brazing, and welding typical of plumbing installations.

5. Skilled in the care, use and repair of hand or power tools and equipment necessary to perform various tasks.

6. Skilled in locating and adjusting defects in systems and equipment.

7. Strong organizational, planning, and time management skills.

8. Skill in working courteously with the public as well as developing and maintaining good working relationships.

9. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software, especially word processing and spreadsheets.

10. Ability to work with minimal or no supervision.

11. Ability to effectively communicate as well as understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.

12. Ability to work cooperatively with team members and guests.

13. Ability to exercise independent judgment and to be fiscally prudent in choosing materials, tools, and procedures in finishing assigned tasks.

14. Ability to perform mathematic computations pertaining to the position.

15. Ability to use graphic instructions such as blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, or other visual aids as well as interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

16. Ability to make decisions based on information received from team members or guests.

17. Ability to lift, carry and climb ladders to reach work areas as well as push and pull and climb scaffolds when required to complete the job task.

18. Ability to work at heights greater than twenty feet.

19. Ability to lift arms above shoulder height level to work in ceiling areas.

20. Ability to work in small, cramped areas such as ceiling crawl spaces, equipment enclosures, and closets.

21. Ability to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.

22. Ability to stand, bend, squat, kneel, push, pull and/or walk 100% of job time.

23. Ability to work in a smoking environment.

24. Ability to work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the outdoor elements.

25. Ability to travel across rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Seven (7) years experience in the plumbing industry to include building maintenance, commercial building trade, or facilities maintenance/engineering, including six (6) months lead or supervisory experience OR an acceptable combination of education and experience. Must successfully pass a written exercise.

2. Computer proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite software, especially word processing and spreadsheets.

3. Must have a valid Arizona Drivers License.

4. Must be able to move heavy objects (50 pounds or more) long distances (more than 20 feet), with or without a reasonable accommodation.

5. Must be able to independently push, pull and turn a tool cart (up to 300lbs), lift and carry ladders, push and pull scaffolds, and wear fitted tool belt, with or without a reasonable accommodation.

6. Demonstrated track record of reliability, responsiveness and creativity

7. Demonstrated track record of providing excellent customer service.

8. Must be able to work any shift, weekends, holidays, special events, rotating shifts and overtime, as needed.

9. Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.

10. Must be able to obtain, and maintain a valid gaming license.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. High school Graduate or General Equivalency Diploma.

2. Bilingual (English/Spanish).

3. Journeyman Plumber
