Position SummaryWhat you'll doWe are looking for experienced software engineer with full-stack development experience with a growth mindset to join our Data and Customer Analytics (DCA) team. Our engineers combine creativity, curiosity, and drive to get things done. You will be a key member of the Data Engineering team and will be responsible for a wide range of analytics features, initiatives, and enhancements in Supply Chain data domain. In the Data Engineering team, we help Walmart manage this data by building pipelines and data lakes to prepare big data for analysis and unlocking actionable insights in real-time. We also use cross-departmental data and machine learning to build a holistic view of true profitability, saving millions of dollars across item categories and geographies while assisting our leadership in making better decisions faster.What you'll do:
Design, develop, and implement web-based applications to support business requirements.
Follow approved life cycle methodologies, create design documents, and perform program coding and testing.
Develop and manage well-functioning databases and applications.
Write effective APIs.
Provide technical guidance and use engineering best practices to initiate, plan, and execute large-scale, cross functional, and company-wide projects.
Demonstrate craftsmanship and produce high quality software that is unit tested, code reviewed, and checked in regularly for continuous integration.
Investigate and build proof-of-concept prototypes utilizing new technologies and drive their adoption within the mainstream product.
Generate technical documentation and presentations to communicate architectural and design options, and educate development, product, and business teams.
Manage and maintain multiple production and non-production environments, ensuring that these environments are setup with the standard automated build and releases processes & deliver with quality, reliability.
Participate in code reviews, architectural discussions, and troubleshooting sessions to ensure the highest standards of development.
Drive a culture of accountability, ownership, and inclusivity within the team.
Code Development and Testing: Writes code to develop the required solution and application features by determining the appropriate programming language and leveraging business, technical and data requirements. Creates test cases to review and validate the proposed solution design. Creates proofs of concept. Tests the code using the appropriate testing approach. Deploys software to production servers. Contributes code documentation, maintains playbook, and provides timely progress updates.
Applied Business Acumen: Provides recommendations to business stakeholders to solve complex business issues. Develops business cases for projects with a projected return on investment or cost savings. Translates business requirements into projects, activities, and tasks and aligns to overall business strategy. Serves as an interpreter and conduit to connect business needs with tangible solutions and results. Recommends new processes and ways of working.
Participate in designing data application architecture with senior architects.
Demonstrates up-to-date expertise and applies this to the development, execution, and improvement of action plans by providing expert advice and guidance to others. Supporting and aligning efforts to meet customer and business needs and building commitment for perspectives and rationales.
Provides and supports the implementation of business solutions by building relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders. Identifying business needs, determining, and carrying out necessary processes and practices.
Promotes and supports company policies, procedures, mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity by training and providing direction to others in their use and application, ensuring compliance with them.
Ensures business needs are being met by evaluating the ongoing effectiveness of current plans, programs, and initiatives. Applying suggestions for improving efficiency and cost effectiveness; and participating in and supporting community outreach events.
Create custom software components and analytics applications.
Increase the efficiency of the team by setting right Processes of Software Development, Requirement Intake, Effort Estimation.
What you'll bring:Must Have
Good knowledge in end to end system design .
Well versed with backend technologies and application development frameworks like Spring boot, React, Node.js.
Well versed with frontend technologies /libraries like React.js, Angular, Next.js, jQuery, JavaScript.
Strong experience in continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD), containerization , and cloud platforms to create and run applications.
Good knowledge in UX and basic prototype/wireframe design.
You're experienced in one of cloud computing platforms (e.g., GCP, Azure ).
Experience with the orchestration tools like Automic, Airflow.
Hands on knowledge in NoSQL like Druid, Cosmos DB etc. along with RDBMS like MySQL, Postgres is plus. And caching mechanisms such as Redis, Memcached etc.
Demonstrating creative, critical thinking & troubleshooting skills.
Nice to have
Good to know GraphQL APIs.
Good to know Big Data Technologies, Spark, Cloud, Streaming, Kafka core, Kafka connect .
Experience in building highly scalable Big Data solutions and ETL ecosystems.
Hands on working experience in any other messaging platform along with Kafka is preferred.
