Icehouse Framing and Gallery is looking for a Custom Framer to join our team.
Full time and Part Time positions are available.
As a custom framer you will be working with customers directly to create to create custom frames for their art pieces. Our projects vary widely from client to client from sports memorabilia to museum quality artwork; creative and innovative minds will thrive here.
Responsibilities:
The following identifies the essential duties and responsibilities. Other duties may be assigned
-Assist with customers on custom framing layouts and design
-Responsible for completing full custom orders.
This includes: mounting artwork, cutting mats, joining frames, cleaning and cutting glass and plexi, picture frame fitting and assembly, stretching canvas and dry mounting
-Selling consignment and retail items to customers
-Keeping gallery and workshop clean and orderly
-Taking pictures of finished work for our social media accounts (Instagram, Facebook, etc)
Qualifications:
-Previous experience working in framing or frame shop required
-Design knowledge with a strong attention to detail
-Strong work ethic and organizational skills
-Customer service-oriented with a friendly disposition
-Familiarity with social media platforms ( Instagram, Facebook etc)
-General math skills
-Must be able to lift 20 pounds

-Comfortable answering phones
-Customer/Retail service experience
-Artistic interest
About Our Company:
The Icehouse Framing and Gallery has been providing custom framing for 33 years. Originally located at the historic Chester Ave Icehouse building, we have since relocated to the heart of downtown, with classic Bakersfield landmarks such as the Padre Hotel and the Fox Theatre just a block away. We pride ourselves on our excellent customer service and detail oriented craftsmanship.
Our business hours are as follows: Tues-Fri 10am-6pm. Sat 10am-3pm
We often participate in monthly "First Fridays" where we stay open for the evening.
