Financial Controller Sr Role Summary The Financial Controller Sr. is responsible for budgets, financial planning, reporting, controlling, and G/L accuracy. He/she oversees recoveries and billings of base, bilateral project, and foreign service employee (FSE) funding (overall budget of $80M). The Financial Controller Sr. oversees all Innovation and Engineering Center California (IECC) finance and purchasing activities to ensure adherence to corporate policies. He/she will be the Finance expert of the whole IECC organization who installs solutions and processes for financial challenges unique to the IECC. Role Responsibilities

Budget, Controlling, and Financial Reporting
  • The role has Financial Approval threshold of 100,000 USD.
  • Create IECC budget
  • Review business cases for requests (Shopping Carts, VTracs, Taleo, Fieldglass,) and determine if aligned to financial goals of IECC
  • Identify and recommend cost-saving opportunities or other efficiencies where possible
  • Balance IECC organization budget throughout the year to meet financial goals
  • Prepare monthly and ad hoc financial reports, statements, charts and analysis for IECC management
  • Track ICC and ECC shared project manpower cost to enable cross organization allocation accounting
  • Allocate IECC overhead costs to ICC and ECC
  • Generate respective ICC and ECC financial reports
  • Design SAP hierarchy structure of IECC organization
  • Maintains cost center list and description/use (active and inactive)
  • Input SAP budget data
  • Provide spending detail report by team/cost center
  • Analyze and allocate overhead per scenario for true hourly bill rate to facilitate bilateral project funding
  • Set up cost sharing structure with non-IECC tenants on SVC for services provided by IECC, analyze annually and recover quarterly
  • Create IECC budget status on demand
Accounts Receivable
  • Secure BM/AKs from Germany for base funding
  • Review and correct bilateral project quotes, collect signatures, follow up on POs
  • Maintain Excel file of bilateral quotes for real time BM and billing status
Purchasing and Accounts Payable
  • Review Shopping Cart paperwork for budget availability and policy compliance
  • Guide IECC Financial Coordinator on PO and A/P processing
  • Review PO status and reconcile SAP PO data with IECC PO log
  • Accrue for outstanding invoices at yearend
Financial management of bilateral foreign assignment cost centers
  • Request SAP cost center for each new bilateral FSE
  • Secure cost acceptance or BM for each quarterly chargeback
  • Charge quarterly overhead and admin support through journal entry
  • Estimate Dec expense for Q4 billing
  • Manage FSE home dept. inquiries and research for explanations of post-repatriation charges processed by Global Assignment or Payroll
General Ledger
  • Prove SAP posting expense details
  • Research and inquire of questionable postings
  • Prepare re-class journal vouchers and take necessary actions to correct root cause
Capital Asset Management
  • Prepare planning round / strategic and annual capital investment plan
  • Provide capital forecast as required
  • Reconcile, identify and tag SAP capital assets
  • Prepare SAP Transfer/Disposal of Capital Investment Request
Finance IT System/Applications
  • Tempo system
    • Configure new projects by assigning project numbers and cost centers
    • Extract month end data and compile status reports of project status details
    • Update bilateral funding BM receipts, allocate funding between internal and external costs.
    • Review project spending and budget balance. Raise flags and prompt project/cluster managers to update project planned cost following IECC project management procedures
    • Reconcile database with SAP postings to ensure data integrity
    • Lead project budget sanity check round in Q3 & Q4 for project/cluster managers to validate and tweak forecast to match actual more closely
  • VW Group Supply platform
    • Backup administrator of VWGoA account
    • User management (20+ VWGoA users in various functions)
    • Online order acceptance
    • Online quote submission
  • Planen-BM system
    • Secure BM number and check status
    • Retrieve BM copy for billing purpose
Others
  • Address finance inquiries and solve problems
  • Key contact for internal audit
  • Supervise and oversee IECC misc. assets management

Years of Experience
  • 7-10 years in related job function
Education Required
  • Bachelor Degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting or equivalent, Master's preffered.
