Process & Test Engineer Role Summary This position will work as a Process & Test Engineer for automotive battery development and will be located in the NAR CoE for Battery Cells. Center of Excellence (CoE) for Battery Cells is responsible for Volkswagen Group-wide responsibility development, procurement and quality assurance of all battery cells. The NAR (North American Region) CoE for Battery Cells will provide NAR market focused scouting, validation, and development of battery cells Role Responsibilities Process Testing & Methodology:
  • Acquisition and project processing in the electrochemical and mechanical process technology of battery cell manufacturing
  • Analysis of process and testing of ongoing projects
  • Active and close cooperation with internal/external colleagues from Planning and coordination of test programs
  • Participation in the creation of approval-relevant tests in relation to local laws, standards and regulations in the testing of a battery cell or battery system
  • Systematic analysis and assessment of test data, creation of test reports
  • Analysis of errors that occur and development of suggestions for fault rectification and optimization measures
  • Ongoing expert discussion with worldwide CoE development colleagues on the topic of battery testing
  • Development of new ideas on measurement technology and methodology for electrical, geometric and thermal test methods
  • Localization and establishing contacts with potential service providers for testing battery cells
  • Independent creation of project-specific specifications for tests at the battery cell level (e.g. service life, characteristics and functions), test set-up and test execution
  • Performing cost-related assessments of different manufacturing concepts for battery cells

Years of Experience
  • 5-7 years of experience battery cell development or production/process development
Education Required
  • Bachelors degree in electrical engineering, electronics, mechatronics or a comparable subject area, Master's preferred.
