DescriptionBurns & McDonnell’s Business and Technology Solutions division leverages a foundation of technical excellence and deep industry insights to deliver data-driven advisory services and solutions for infrastructure owners across multiple industries. The Managing Director can sit in any part of the country. We recognize that optimization and modernization strategies for assets carry impacts that extend beyond the project or program and must account for complete business integration. The Business and Technology Solutions division seeks an experienced consultant with a proven record of executive-level problem-solving in the utility sector. The Managing Director is responsible to drive growth of consulting services, create and deliver on a best-in-class engagement methodology, and to build and lead a team of industry advisors capable of solving our clients’ most challenging business problems.The Managing Director will set the strategy for the Management Consulting organization while also providing input into overall division direction. This organization lead will drive customer acquisition through development of key client relationships, provide executive guidance for engagements and direct delivery of client recommendations, and ensure continued excellence in competency and delivery of the Management Consulting team in order to sustain client satisfaction.Key Responsibilities:

Drive business development with an emphasis on new client relationships, sales, and structuring profitable engagements

Develops and maintains key client relations at the C-suite and Senior Executive level

Leverage and incorporate solutions from across the division portfolio to address complex problems and trends in the highly evolving utility and critical infrastructure landscape

Own responsibility for profitable execution

Create effective partnerships with other Burns & McDonnell practices to create comprehensive solutions from strategy through to EPC.

Ensure profitable delivery of Management Consulting services and serve as the single point of responsibility for client engagements

Advise and train team of industry consultants to effectively frame, diagnose, and solve complex client problems

Identify and gain selected certifications for the Management Consulting team in order to grow competencies and market credibility

Set the standard for market presence through thought leadership publication, conference presentation, and industry organization leadership roles

Maintain deep industry knowledge in order to set the strategy for shaping solutions to address new and pervasive market challenges

Identify new opportunities to create and deploy innovative solutions to serve highly dynamic markets

Define and drive the go to market strategy for new solutions or market verticals

Develop and grow a team of highly engaged industry experts

Lead contract development and negotiations

Guidance and direct contribution to winning proposal development

All other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree (Engineering preferred)

MBA (preferred)

15 years of experience consulting in complex industries

Experience building and leading a successful consulting practice generating $10M in annual sales

10 years of experience covering aspects of the following

Capital Planning and budget strategies for critical infrastructures

Regulatory and rate case support

Grid Modernization strategies

Utility Resource planning

Convergence of IT/OT and data connectivity

Business case development and financial analysis

Expert in finalizing a financial structure and statements of work to include terms, risk mitigation, and pricing

Ability to facilitate a workshop setting and discern a path forward with limited data sets

Executive level communication and presentation skills

Ability to travel up to 75%
