KPRS Construction is seeking a qualified Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) Specialist to join our team in Brea, California.The VDC Specialist has the responsibility to accurately and fully inform the team of each project's overall BIM efforts, including potential liabilities and/or concerns with designers, subcontractors and other model stakeholders. This position is responsible for supporting inter-departmental projects as they relate to their BIM scope.Essential Function of the VDC Specialist role:

  • Work with and assess the project's team (designers and sub-trades) capabilities to determine appropriate BIM implementation plan for specific project.
  • Provide early 3D visualizations and quantification of the area, spaces and material quantities for site logistical purposes.
  • Provide information related to site plans and interior/exterior of buildings in an accurate, easy to understand 3D parametric format, and help demonstrate a better understanding of the necessary sequencing for construction.
  • Prepare animations, which navigate a virtual project site and produce rendered photorealistic images of future buildings for new projects.
  • Perform any BIM quantity takeoff necessary and provide the Estimating Department with quantities.
  • Develop, deliver and review the BIM implementation schedule with the project team.
  • Link the building model to construction schedules to validate and analyze the construction sequences.
  • Link the building model to energy analysis tools allows evaluation of energy use during the early design phases.
  • Communicate and share the building models with the design team and contractors to discover design errors and omissions before construction.
  • Perform simulations and create clash reports and resolution actions between disciplines Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, Fire Protection, Structural and Architectural models).
Experience, Education and Ability:
  • BS in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Architectural Engineering or similar technical training required
  • 3-5 plus years in commercial construction working for a General Contractor or CM. DBIA, CCM and/or LEED AP certification, preferred.
  • Understanding of building design, construction and operations, CPM scheduling and Pre-construction services.
  • Must be a team builder and enjoy training others.
  • Good computer skills including proficiency in software programs (MS, Excel, Word, Access, Revit, Navisworks, ArchiCAD, Newforma, Google tools, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.).
  • Must have good verbal and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to facilitate meetings.
  • Specific technical expertise with BIM systems is required, because the focus of the BIM Program will be Architectural, Structural, Mechanical, Electrical and Piping Systems. The BIM Specialist will be expected to become an internal expert and resource on the Systems making up the construction of a building.
  • Ideal to have hands-on field experience in construction, building construction sequencing and construction estimating.
