This individual contributor position develops, curates, and produces a variety of written content, in English or other languages as appropriate, and provides input to and executes creative strategy from idea generation to completion under the guidance of more senior employees.Additionally, this role ensures the creative strategy compliments and amplifies organizational initiatives by monitoring and recommending modifications to strategy to ensure effectiveness and discussing requirements and core messages with project lead. Completes work assignments by applying up-to-date expertise in subject area to generate creative solutions; ensuring all procedures and policies are followed; leveraging an understanding of data, and resources to support projects or initiatives; collaborating cross-functionally to solve business problems; identifying and monitoring priorities, deadlines, and expectations; communicating progress and information; identifying, recommending, and implementing ways to address improvement opportunities; and escalating issues or risks as appropriate.

Develops, curates, and produces a variety of written content in English or other languages as appropriate for a variety of media channels/platforms by communicating with clients to determine expectations for content; reviewing and interpreting creative and/or advertising briefs; determining type of writing most effective for specific outlets and audiences; writing clear and persuasive content; editing and prooing content; coordinating with design to complement the copy with visual elements; ensuring optimization of all content for search engines as appropriate; and revising content based on feedback from business partners and other stakeholders.

Develops ideas and concepts for short and long form content under the guidance of more senior staff by brainstorming strategies for relaying relevant messaging to target audience; developing new and unique concepts for transforming ideas into writing; preparing and editing presentations for compelling ideas to business partners and other stakeholders; participating in meetings with creative leadership; exploring different ideas and concepts for both the visual and verbal elements in tandem with the creative team; and preparing materials for presenting initial ideas to creative leadership.

Conducts research relevant to assigned projects, under the guidance of more senior staff in order to ensure understanding of audience, markets, and project objectives by developing an understanding of the target topic; how the topic will influence the audience; determining what makes the topic appealing to the target audience; and keeping abreast of competitors and market trends to avoid similar executions.

Provides input to and executes creative strategy from idea generation to completion under the guidance of more senior employees by ensuring the creative strategy compliments and amplifies organizational initiatives; monitoring and recommending modifications to strategy to ensure effectiveness; collaborating with cross-functional teams; ensuring content is compliant with legal and regulatory standards; maintaining and protecting the KP brand voice; interpreting style guides and supporting stakeholders on brand execution; and discussing requirements and core messages with project lead.

The senior copywriter at Kaiser Permanente will develop content that drives growth and customer/member engagement. They will write engaging short-form and long-form copy in support of various lines of business, products, audiences, channels, and formats – including web, email, social media, sales materials, and presentations. The senior copywriter will translate complex ideas into easy-to-understand copy that aligns with our brand voice, style, and accessibility guidelines. They bring a curious, solutions-focused mindset and a pattern of applying critical thinking and insights to align their work with business needs and marketing strategy. In their day-to-day work, they will be coordinating with other creatives and project stakeholders to ensure timely completion of all tasks. The senior writer will effectively represent creative work to groups outside our department — and help mentor newer writers over time. This role will be remote but you must be located within California. There is potential for quarterly in-person collaboration sessions.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Communications, Journalism, English, Humanities, Business, Social Science, or related field and Minimum Three (3) years experience in communications, writing, marketing, or a directly related field. Additional equivalent work experience in a directly related field may be substituted for the degree requirement.

Preferred Qualifications:

One (1) year experience in a leadership role with or without direct reports.

One (1) year in health care or another heavily regulated industry (e.g., Banking).

Two (2) years project management experience.

One (1) year experience working in a matrixed organization.

Two (2) years professional experience in community management and the development of social media content.

Two (2) years professional experience in the development of digital or multi-media content.

One (1) year experience in change management or communications support.

One (1) year experience working in an organization with union represented employees.

Three (3) years technical writing experience.

Three (3) years commercial, promotional, or marketing writing experience.

Three (3) years journalism experience.
