POSITION SUMMARY: The MySQL/PostgreSQL Manager will manage teams to ensure the delivery and intake of external communications for marketing and support; and installation, configuration, upgrading, monitoring, maintenance, security, and administration of databases. Will determine service requirements by analyzing the needs of internal customers, identify and monitor trends to forecast future requirements. She/he will have a deep understanding of email delivery best practices and a proven track record of managing high volume mailers; is responsible for managing creation and administration of databases, data integrity, backup and recovery of data, performance tuning, restores for mission critical systems, and resolution of production issues. Must be quick and responsive meeting the needs of business groups and remain flexible to support changing initiatives. Your contributions will ensure the best possible user experience for everyone who visits our web sites 24 hours a day, every day of the year, all over the world.

WHAT YOU WILL DO
  • Manage cross functional teams
  • Be responsible for managing and ensuring the setup, maintaining, and supporting databases
  • Manage and monitor databases, set up database clusters, and perform backup and recovery processes
  • Manage and set up and administer databases for mission critical 24/7 platform
  • Manage and direct developers on performance tuning and optimization, query optimization, index tuning, caching, buffer tuning, etc.
  • Manage and troubleshoot and resolving problems with MySQL and other database engines
  • Utilize tool sets to diagnose and resolve production issues
  • Perform query optimization
  • Manage and perform operational DBA duties: installation, database upgrades, patching, environment cloning, implement backup/recovery and monitoring procedures, capacity planning, and site failover/switchover
  • Manage and configure, and maintain large MySQL/PostgreSQL server farm
  • Manage and monitor the development, test, rollout, and support of database tools
  • Manage and maintain backups of mission critical data
  • Manage and provide production support on a 24x7 rotation basis
  • Lead and direct a team of database administrators
  • Manage and work with others to identify problems and create solutions for email delivery, campaign monetization and customer service support infrastructure
  • Manage and work with business leaders to maximize ROI of email marketing campaigns
  • Manage and ensure all email meets CAN-SPAM act and deliverability requirements
  • Partner with creative team to design email and communication templates, develop images, content, promos, and landing pages for Email marketing campaigns
  • Manage and develop and analyze key marketing metrics to ensure campaigns are meeting revenue and acquisition cost goals
  • Develop and manage strong business relationships with large mail providers
  • Manage email and database marketing tools
  • Manage and monitor analyzing back-end data of email campaigns and make recommendations for enhancing their effectiveness

WHAT YOU MUST HAVE
  • BA/BS in Computer Science and/or equivalent experience
  • Experience with multi-master replication and active-active environments is desired
  • Experience in administration of InnoDB and MyISAM storage engines for MySQL
  • Experience in administration of MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle databases
  • 15+ years’ of experience with database administration, support, optimizations and monitoring
  • 5+ years’ of experience as a MySQL and/or PostgreSQL DBA in a high volume, high impact transactional environment
  • 5+ years’ of experience as a MySQL and/or PostgreSQL DBA in a high traffic environment
  • 4 years’ experience managing cross-functional teams
  • Experience in oracle RAC/GRID installation, configuration and support
  • 3+ years’ working in a LAMP environment, particularly Perl/MySQL/PostrgreSQL combination
  • 3 years’ experience as the lead on a team of database administrators
  • Experience with Dataguard
  • Experience with MyISAM/InnoDB/Cluster
  • Must be comfortable with adult content
  • Must be at least 21 years old

WHAT YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO DEMONSTRATE
  • Expert knowledge of and experience with replication between multiple database instances
  • Expert understanding of Linux operating system
  • Should be able to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with development and operations
  • Be proficient in tuning, diagnostic, and backup of MySQL/PostgreSQL/Oracle 11g
  • Ability to write/hack PERL
  • NoSQL and MSSQL experience is desirable
