Job Description We are currently seeking a Senior System Administrator (Level 3)with extensive expertise to help maintain and expand the technical infrastructure. In this position, you will plan, drive and execute complex projects and initiatives to support our technological build-out, as well as help develop data center facilities to support our expansion. The ideal candidate will have a strong, multi disciplined background including experience with Linux, Windows servers, networking and storage. Because you will be working with outside vendors and staff members at all levels of the organization, excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate are crucial for success. A day looks like this:
- Use your expertise in system administration and network engineering to design technical solutions to support business needs
- Create processes, systems and scripts that self-heal systems, streamline processes or enhance efficiency, reliability and security of our IT infrastructure
- Work with users and other IT teams to understand needs to determine optimal infrastructure design approach
- Analyze and optimize performance of servers based on user and business needs and evolving system loads/demands
- Proactively oversee the monitoring of all IT devices, applications and services
- Provide expertise needed to ensure effective system sizing, architecture and configuration for new systems and to ensure effective ongoing performance, scalability and reliability of existing systems
- Provide guidance and training to other system admins and technical personnel
- Propose and implement system enhancements and tools to improve visibility to potential issues and proactively ensure system performance, security and reliability
- Prepare for emergencies by creating and/or updating action plans and procedures
- Support 7x24 systems by periodically providing off-hours, evening, and weekend support to accommodate maintenance windows and emergency issue resolution
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/MIS or equivalent degree/work experience
- 5+ years of experience in system and/or network design, deployment and administration
- Expert working knowledge of Red Hat, CentOS, Debian and Windows Server
- Proficient working knowledge of VMware vSphere Enterprise and cloud virtualization systems
- Working knowledge of F5 Load Balancers & Application Firewall
- Working knowledge of application runtimes such as Jboss EAP, Apache Tomcat and .NET Core
- Experience managing 100+ servers in a mixed environment
- Ability in using scripting such as Bash and PowerShell to automate system tasks
- Expertise with configuration management tools such as Ansible is a plus
- Ability to manage network equipment such as Palo Alto/Arista/Cisco Meraki switches, Wi-Fi, routers, load balancers and firewall components
- Know how in data center design, distribution center data networking and disaster recovery is a plus
- Excellent communication and documentation skills with the ability to clearly explain complex technical plans, policies and procedures both verbally and in writing
- Engaged in meeting challenging deadlines while managing multiple high-level projects with different stakeholders
- Self-motivated and energetic with the ability to manage time efficiently without supervision and to work effectively under pressure
- Strong customer service skills
