Job Description

We are currently searching for an experienced Senior Engineering Technician to work on-site at our Carson headquarters supporting RD&D Design Engineering with oversight of the rapidly expanding Engineering Workshop. In this position, you will ensure that 3-D printers are optimized and maintained while directing scheduling and priorities within Engineering. This position will also help with successful prototype development and build as well as review samples. Successful candidates will have a broad range of knowledge of product development, manufacturing and workshop processes, and CAD. Lakeshore is a highly collaborative environment, so be prepared to also work constructively and efficiently with both internal and external partners!

A day in the office looks like this: Scheduling and finishing 3-D prints for assembly and evaluation Checking parts against engineering drawings Overseeing Engineering Workshop use, safety and organization Training engineers on tool use Providing product improvement input to RD&D team as needed Updating and/or converting drawings Reviewing development samples, including measurement against drawings, form, fit and function Sourcing and ordering components and subassemblies for use in prototypes

Qualifications

Skills and background? Here’s what we’re looking for: Engineering Technology or similar degree/training preferred 7+ years of product development experience Highly skilled/certified in SolidWorks or equivalent Experience in developing and building prototypes in multiple modalities, such as injection molding, wood, metal, textiles and furniture. Simple electronics a plus. Trained/certified in 3-D printing and processing and tabletop CNC Strong design and fabrication sensibilities Strong root cause analysis skills with ability to quickly find workable solutions Excellent attention to detail
