We are currently seeking a System Administrator with extensive expertise to help maintain and expand the technical infrastructure. In this position, you will plan, drive and execute complex projects and initiatives to support our technological build-out, as well as help develop data center facilities to support our expansion. The ideal candidate will have a strong, multi-disciplined background including experience with Linux, Windows servers, networking, and storage. Because you will be working with outside vendors and staff members at all levels of the organization, excellent communication skills and the ability to collaborate are crucial for success. A day in the office looks like this:
- Use your expertise in system administration to translate business needs into technical solutions
- Analyze and optimize the performance of servers based on user and business needs
- Debug production issues across services and levels of the stack.
- Participate in service capacity planning, load testing, performance analysis and system tuning.
- Design and develop real-time monitoring and alerting solutions that provide clarity into application health and performance.
- Proactively oversee the monitoring of all IT devices, applications and services using a combination of tools
- Propose and implement system enhancements that will improve system performance and reliability
- Prepare for emergencies by creating and/or updating action plans
- Develop effective documentation for processes and tooling that you implement, so that other team members can use the tools and processes you put in place
- Support 7x24 systems by periodically providing off-hours, evening and weekend support to accommodate maintenance windows and issue resolution
- Jumping into time-sensitive projects wherever needed
- Showing flexibility and a willingness to learn
- Treating internal and external customers like gold!
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science/MIS or equivalent degree/work experience
- 5-8 years of experience in system design, deployment and administration
- Strong working knowledge of Red Hat, CentOS, Debian and Windows Server
- Strong working knowledge of VMware Enterprise and cloud virtualization systems
- Experience managing 100+ servers in a mixed environment
- Experience in managing Storage systems
- Experience using scripting such as Bash and PowerShell to automate system tasks
- Experience with configuration management tools is a plus
- Experience in data center design, and disaster recovery is a plus
- Experience with monitoring tools like SolarWinds monitoring or Nagios or ELK or Prometheus
- Excellent communication and documentation skillswith the ability to clearly explain complex technical plans, policies and procedures both verbally and in writing
- Experience meeting challenging deadlines while managing multiple high-level projects with different stakeholders
- Self-motivated and energetic with the ability to manage time efficiently without supervision and to work effectively under pressure
- Strong customer service skills Tip-top customer service and communication skills over the phone and in-person
- Ability to juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting
- Excellent organizational skills and a strong sense of urgency
