Job Details

  • Pay: $60/hr.
  • Shift times: Part Time 20 hours/week, Wednesday-Friday 5: 00-10: 00 PM and Saturday 9: 00 AM-2: 00 PM

Qualifications

  • Fully Vaccinated (Booster).
  • Current State of California Registered Nurse license
  • Current BLS certification
  • Pre-employment screening, including TB screening (skin test), COVID-19 vaccination, professional references, and criminal background check(s)
  • Knowledge of pediatric triage, and pediatric assessment, familiarity with common pediatric conditions, and treatment.
  • Computer experience (data using Microsoft Word)

Responsibilities

  • Conducts a nursing assessment of each child/youth at the time of the Assessment Center admission that includes completion of a health screening form, and the documentation of height (length for infants) and weight measurements, vital signs (temperature, pulse, respiration, & blood pressure) and administration of a COVID-19 rapid test.
  • Identifies acute injury, illness, including communicable disease symptoms, conditions such as scabies, head lice, acute substance use disorder and/or withdrawal, and concerning behavioral signs (altered mental status, depression, suicidal ideation) at the time of admission and throughout the youth’ s Assessment Center stay.
  • Performs daily screenings of each youth to assess for COVID-19 symptoms, (includes temperature check), documents screening results in youth’ s chart. Performs a COVID-19 rapid test if a youth is determined to be symptomatic for COVID-19. Communicates findings to nursing supervisor to coordinate next steps if the COVID-19 rapid test result is positive.
  • Completes inventory at time of Intake of youth’ s prescribed medications, transcribes medication orders onto the Medication Administration log and stores medication in designated locking cabinets.
  • Supervises, performs, and monitors prescribed treatments such as but not limited to respiratory treatments, head lice and scabies treatments, blood glucose monitoring, and urine ketone checks.
  • Performs first aid for youth sustaining minor injuries during the Assessment Center stay (scrapes, small lacerations, and other minor injuries).
  • Communicates with nursing supervisor when follow-up needs are required after the youth is discharged from the Assessment Center to placement or home.
