Job Description

Well established north state company is looking for a controller to join its family of business entities.

The controller will handle high-level accounting, managerial accounting, and oversee financial activities of the company. As head of the accounting department, controller will manage and supervise all aspects of accounting from payroll to tax compliance. Will report to owners, and will assist with development of internal control policies, procedures, and financial planning as needed.

Objectives of this Role

Provide comprehensive financial updates to senior management by evaluating, analyzing, and reporting appropriate data points

Guide financial decisions by applying company policies and procedures to current economic landscape

Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines

Achieve budgeting goals with proper scheduling, analysis, and corrective action

Maximize payroll efficiency through innovative process development

Help develop and support short and long-term operational strategies

Daily and Monthly Responsibilities

Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures

Oversee the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the departments goals and objectives.

Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective processes to improve the close and reporting cycles to ensure timely and adequate reporting

Preparation of work papers supporting the monthly close process and month end balances

Ensure that accounts payable are paid in a timely manner

Ensure that all reasonable discounts are taken on accounts payable

Ensure that accounts receivables are collected promptly

Ensure that all reconciliations are completed

Ensure that required debt payments are made on a timely basis

Maintain chart of accounts

Partner with Operations, to ensure accurate and effective inventory control and cost accounting

Skills and Qualifications

Bachelors degree in business, accounting, or related field

7+ years proven accounting experience

CPA preferred

Salary commensurate with experience
