Under general supervision of the Chief Instructional Officer, and in coordination with the Environmental Studies Department Chair, plans, implements, and facilitates curriculum related to fuels reduction and prescribed fire; oversee campus watershed and forest health projects; and administer related grants. In coordination with the Facilities Director, leads and coordinates efforts to manage the health of the campus ecosystem and to reduce fire susceptibility through fuel reduction. The successful candidate will work with existing faculty in the Environmental Studies Department to support undergraduate curriculum designed to meet the needs of vocational and transfer students. The person in this position will be responsible for Environmental Studies curriculum focused in the areas of forest health, fuels reduction, and prescribed fire. Minimum qualifications: Wildland fire or burnboss certification OR an associate degree in a related field, two years of professional experience in a related field, and ability to attain California Burn Boss certification within four years.
