You will be responsible for evaluating the current catalog of components manufactured by Collins Aerospace and determine low cost automated solutions where identified as financially beneficial. You will work with different automated solution providers to best determine the right equipment and tooling path forward for Collins Aerospace. Once you have identified an automated solutions provider has been identified, you will work with them as well as the manufacturing sites to implement the equipment into new or existing product lines. In addition, you will also work closely with other internal Collins Aerospace organizations, key suppliers/customers, and senior leadership to ensure internal and external commitments and milestones are met.Primary Responsibilities

Demonstrate the ability to strategically organize and complete projects, tasks and business objectives.

Drive the usage of appropriate Project Management and Lean Product Development tools to support cost-effective technical solutions.

Solve complex problems and manage multiple tasks and personnel simultaneously.

Lead a cultural changes & process improvements to better align with UTAS-Aerostructures

Track record of maintaining positive long-term business relationships.

Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate verbally and written at all levels. Both internally and externally.

Implementing Metallics Manufacturing equipment through all staged of development and manufacturing readiness levels.

Experience & QualificationsEducation

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 7 years of relevant experience OR

Advance degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience OR

In absence of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience is required

Basic Qualifications

Experience in the development of project plans using Microsoft Project; including schedule, budget and resource planning. Evaluation of technical options against schedule and budgetary constraints.

Critical Competencies: Project Focus, Drive for Results, Technical Skills, Interpersonal Leadership Skills, Commitment to Continuous Improvement, Effective Teamwork.

Travel will be required to meet with automated solution providers, attend technical conferences / trade shows (i.e. WESTEC, AeroDef, SAMPE, etc.) to evaluate material processing advancements, and customer facilities for meetings and manufacturing reviews.

Travel will also be required to other Collins facilities for equipment installation, testing and support.

The position is to be based out of Chula Vista with periodic travel to the Riverside, CA, Everett, WA, Foley , AL, San Marcos, TX, and Mexicali MX facilities (30% travel).

Preferred Qualifications

Experience implementing automation solutions for metallic components and assemblies (Manufacturing, Drilling, Polishing, Machining, Assembly, Laser systems, welding, etc.).

Experience with coordinating and executing equipment, tooling, and part qualifications.

Experience with material system development to improve automated capabilities.

Experience working with metals.

Experience working with furnaces.

Experience with metallic bonding and welding.

Experience with conventional and CNC machining.
