As a Technical specialist you would be responsible for the entire lifecycle of the product that starts with development of a new product and continues into production support. Primary product responsibility would be Thermal Blankets, and Seals. Secondary responsibility would be design oversight related to Latches and Hold Open Rods.Job Description:

Provides technical consultations and guidance for the Equipment Structures POD

As and when required, take ownership of equipment product and work with the supplier to ensure on time delivery.

Be a design mentor for all components in the POD. Design ownership includes but not limited to Interface Control Drawings and Models generation, reviewing supplier drawings, providing guidance to Mexicali design team as and when required for the R&T projects.

Retains technical oversight responsibility over the POD, including ownership and maintenance of the technical process and Standard Work / ESOM documents

Acts as the technical point of contact for Seals and Blankets

Facilitate and drive the resolution of technical issues

Ensure that all of the POD requirements are met, or appropriate deviations/non-compliances and justifications are identified

Ensures that technical goals are met on schedule and to cost

Supports program and technical reviews of the POD products

This includes, but is not limited to, UPI design reviews, customer design reviews, relevant step back reviews and technical issue discussions

This can be delegated as appropriate, but primary support accountability and responsibility remains with the Technical Specialist

Drives read across of technical lessons learned on Seals and Blankets

Mentors team members on technical issues and resolutions

Reviews/approves Technical ECM contents that are sent to suppliers/customers prior to distribution external to the POD

Prepares and submits xClass and TEXPORT requests for their own documents, as necessary

Provides Teamcenter Approval of Procurement Specifications and Supplier Data Item Deliverables (DIDs), as required

Support vendor proposal evaluations, vendor selections and technical coordination

Actively and fully participates in the daily RDGD meetings

Creates and maintains their own Individual Development Plan

Experience/ Qualifications:

Important to be creative, analytical, self-starter, energetic and work well in a team environment at all levels of organization

Highly knowledgeable of Design tools such as CATIA (or equivalent) required

Knowledge of metallic and elastomeric structures is required

Technical experience with cost/ weight optimization projects a plus

Knowledge of MS Office tools required

Solid project management skills at all levels of organization required

Excellent communication skills

Strong Technical Writing required

Understanding of LEAN/Continuous Improvement a plus

Current US Citizen or Green Card Holder required

Education Requirement:This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the Mechanical and Aerospace discipline and 10 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree and 7 years of relevant experience.
