Quality (QC) Control Chemist - Cosmetic/ Personal Care industryJOB SUMMARYResponsible for accurate and timely processing of routine laboratory testing and procedures required by the various type of products produced.RESPONISBILITIES
Analyze in-process production bulk for viscosity, pH, specific gravity, odor, and appearance. Ensure to match standard. Make and document adjustment as needed.
Microbial testing on raw materials, production bulk and finished goods. Maintains Hepa filters.
Reviews and maintains completed Master Files.
Determines fill weight studies for new formulas/components.
Conducts stability/compatibility studies.
Approves and Release incoming raw materials.
Conducts and documents periodic instrument calibration. Troubleshoot when necessary.
Follow all laboratory manual policies, procedures, and instructions.
Investigate and document all Out of Specifications
Maintaining of laboratory equipment and supply inventories. Request replenish on consumables.
Establishes new methods for evaluating products, prepares samples for testing, such as stability, efficacy, or safety. Identifies process improvements with regard to routine lab testing.
Maintain quality control and release records.
Attends appropriate team meetings. As a member of the Team, fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues.
Follows and supports current Good Manufacturing Practices and current Good Laboratory Practices.
Follows appropriate lab safety practices.
Analytical Chemistry: Interacts with external contract analytical labs to extend capabilities and manage external testing.
Provide communications and reports to Customers and Laboratory Management as needed.
Perform all facets of laboratory testing including sample prep, testing setup, results recording and reporting.
EDUCATION
BS degree in biology, chemistry, microbiology, or basic medical science,
Some Microbiology experience is preferred
2 years or more in cosmetic environment preferred
Additional amounts of either specialized experience or directly related education to qualify for higher graded positions. The amount of additional experience or education required depends on the grade of the position.
