Once you submit your application, you will not be able to attach additional documents.Job Description:Repair and maintain electrical systems by repairing, maintaining and installingelectrical systems and equipment ranging in voltage from 110 volts to 480 volts.Essential FunctionsThe incumbent performs these essential duties and responsibilities:Repair and Maintain Electrical Systems DutiesAssisting in the operation and maintenance of the campus electrical substation.Troubleshooting electrical problems by locating and determining electricalmalfunctions using test instruments such as ammeter, multimeter, circuit tracer, etc.Repairing malfunctions by such methods as replacing burnt out elements and fuses,bypassing or replacing defective wiring, cleaning and troubleshooting motors andcontrols, and replacing fixture ballasts.Testing electrical equipment such as motors and heaters for safety and efficiency.Bending and installing wire-mold, EMT, and rigid conduit.Installing fixtures, motors and other electrical equipment.Inspecting circuits and wiring for specified shielding and g rounding and repairing orrewiring systems according to building codes and safety regulations.Repairing mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic and electronic components of electricalequipment.Reading and interpreting blueprints, electrical schematics, maintenance manuals andspecifications. Troubleshooting existing installations and installing new electricalsystems based on this informationSupport Electric Shop and Central Facilities ServicesMaintaining as-built drawings of work undertaken to depict actual constructionvariances from design drawings.Learning FMCS controls as required by updated technologies.Perform other duties as assigned.Required EducationCalifornia State CertificationRequired Knowledge and Critical Skills:Three years of experience demonstrating the ability to apply the techniques of the trade.Required Knowledge and Critical SkillsCompetencies required include possess communication skills including general ability to speak, read, comprehend and write the English language.Possess mathematical skills to include as a minimum ability to add, subtract, multiplyand divide, determine linear measurements, compute areas and volumes ofconventional shapes and forms, and compute approximate weight of objects.Possess ability to climb ladders, crawl in attics and under buildings, lift and carry heavyequipment, bend, stoop, work from heights, and work in uncomfortable positions. Bephysically capable of working under all weather conditions.Be able to be contacted by telephone during non-working hours.Be available for overtime work and to be on call.Be capable of wearing protective clothing and equipment as required by the tasks beingperformed.Be able to work in a safe manner and comply with all applicable OSHA and CALOSHArules.Use Microsoft Office applications.Neat and professional appearance and be capable of performing all tasks andpresenting one’s self in a manner that reflects well on CFS and TCCS, and of promotingthe interests of these organizations throughout The Claremont Colleges.Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and be insurable under The ClaremontColleges insurance.Required HoursThe regular hours for this full time position are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday–Friday.Holiday, weekend and evening work hours may be required.
