Post-doctoral therapists have general responsibility for the following duties: Providing individual, couple, and group counseling (direct clinical service makes up approximately 60% of total time); conducting crisis intervention; delivering psychoeducational outreach programs; assisting students in their personal and educational goals; providing training/consultation with faculty and staff of the Colleges; and other duties as assigned. Post-doctoral therapists are provided with individual supervision, multicultural and clinical training seminars, group case conferences, and intake disposition team meetings.The full-time, 9.5-month post-doctoral experience is structured such that it meets all requirements for the 1500 hours of post-doctoral Supervised Professional Experience (SPE) necessary for licensure in California. Note that it is the post-doctoral candidate’s responsibility to determine whether this placement will meet the requirements for licensure in other states, as some states require more than 1500 hours of SPE and may have additional regulations regarding these hours.Required Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesIndividuals must possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the essential functions of the position, or be able to explain or demonstrate how the essential functions will be performed, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities.

Qualification Standards

REQUIRED EDUCATION: Expected completion (by postdoctoral fellowship start date) of a Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Counseling or Clinical Psychology.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: Previous experience in a university counseling center is preferred.

Other

HOURS: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Will vary and will include some evening and weekend activities.

CLASSIFICATION AND STATUS: This is an exempt, 9.5- month, full-time, temporary, benefits eligible position.

This position reports to the Training Director of Monsour Counseling and Psychological Services.
