Position Overview:The Central Scheduler & Registrar supports the clinical operations of the Outpatient departments and provides seamless appointment scheduling and registration to patients and referring physicians across Sutter Health Affiliates by aligning scheduling guidelines with patient appointment preferences. The scheduling and registration employee coordinates patient needs with department resources and may secure financial clearance by validating eligibility and verification of coverage and obtaining authorization. Consistently facilitates positive multi-channel communications among patients, physicians, clinical staff, and internal departments to serve patient and referring physicians using advanced writing, telephone, and e-mail and internet skills. Multi-channel communications include: Telephone, fax, electronic fax, email and the EHR (Electronic Health Record).Provides excellent patient-focused customer service. Communicates effectively to service delivery areas to maximize patient flow and customer service. Responsible for supporting the success of a high-performing service organization. Fosters an environment in which continuous improvement in business processes and services is welcomed and recognized.Qualifications:Education:

High school graduate or equivalent education/experience required.

Associates degree or higher level education preferred.

Medical terminology required.

Experience:

One to two years of medical office or hospital outpatient scheduling and financial clearance required.

Experience executing Outpatient Scheduling standards, processes, policies, procedures required.

Skills and Knowledge:

Familiarity with medical terminology and anatomy.

Third party, (governmental and non-governmental), requirements, rules and guidelines.

Computer keyboard skills; basic and terminal digit filing; good telephone and communication skills; reading and writing skills; computer literacy.

Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage frequent in-person and/or phone patient contacts while effective maintaining and documenting data in the electronic medical record.

Excellent verbal and written communication and active listening skills

Interpersonal skills necessary in dealing with internal and external customer

Accuracy and attentiveness to detail required

Must be able to set and organize own work priorities, and adapt to change

Ability to meet or exceed targeted customer service, productivity and quality standards

Requires the ability to work with and maintain confidential information

General understanding of Patient Accounting Systems

General understanding of Microsoft Office applications and competent user of Excel and Outlook.
