We are seeking an immediate need for a Data Engineer 2 to join one of California’s most prestigious motor clubs. This is a direct hire, remote position although candidates need to be local to Costa Mesa, CA. This position provides technical and/or organizational support for the Data & Analytics team to carry out projects designed to improve company revenue and/or reduce costs. It is an innovative team seeking to improve the way the company operates by analyzing data in new ways and using the latest technology for accessing, storing, and analyzing data.
What You Will Do:- Develop code to build new data environments by joining disparate internal and external data sources into a unified Big Data Repository on Hadoop and Relational databases. Assist in the identification of proper data sources.
- Develop data acquisition, transformation, and ingestion methods and pipelines from a variety of source systems and using a variety of data integration tools/technologies (SQL, Attunity, Sqoop, Spark, Python, Pig, Hive) under limited supervision.
- Communicate Technical results in a clear and professional manner to non-technical business partners.
- Mentor developers and assist them in their work efforts.
- Maintain and support data pipelines and investigate bugs/issues and remediate them
- Document existing and newly created processes for implementation in production systems.
- Rapidly learn new business processes and data as new projects are usually completely distinct from previous efforts.
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in a technical field (computer science or engineering) with Master's degree preferred
- 3 to 5 years of experience in a traditional data engineering environment
- Expert Level SQL skills required
- Apache Hadoop, Apache Spark, Python, NoSQL or other Big Data technologies experience
- Experience with Cloud services (AWS or Google Cloud Platform) is a plus
- R, Tableau preferred bonus
- Able to rapidly learn new processes/subjects
- Innovative mindset with demonstrated creativity or innovation in some past work experience preferred
