Senior Software Engineer, AI/ML - SFL Scientific

SFL Scientific, a Deloitte Business, is a U.S. based, data science consulting firm specializing in building mission-specific, artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to support the design and development of novel AI solutions for clients looking to implement tools, platforms, and processes that support machine learning and AI initiatives across healthcare, life sciences, manufacturing, energy, and other sectors.

Professionals will serve as trusted advisors to our clients, working with them to make clear data-driven choices about where to play and how to win - ultimately driving growth and enterprise value.

Work you'll do

In this role, you will work cross functionally with a team of data scientists, engineers, project managers, and subject matter experts to develop and deploy transformational applications for our clients. The right candidate will identify and maintain engineering best practices, use expertise to help launch new AI products, tools, and services and support the internal software development lifecycle. from project scoping, sprint planning, systems testing to platform architecting.

As the Senior Software Engineer, you will be involved in all aspects of our technology stack as you develop and implement AI applications. You must be proficient in the latest development tools to successfully implement software that addresses complex issues faced by global organizations that may include use cases in cancer detection, drug discovery, population health and clinical trials, autonomous systems and edge AI, and renewable energy applications.   • Promote excellence and best practices across the Machine Learning team with regards to research, implementation, tooling, and system design.
  • Designing, implementing, unit, & integration testing to support application development using modern tools
  • Support technical development of AI/ML software applications and identifying new industry best practices
  • Collaborate with other data scientists to understand their models and support code improvements and accelerators
  • Collaborate with technical teams to produce high-quality frameworks that enable client delivery and scalable solutions
  • Deploy, test, and support Ai applications in various environments and runtime environments
  • Participate in all phases of the software development lifecycle to influence cross-functional teams and to identify high-impact, data-driven opportunities
  • Champion QA/QC processes, deliver operational automation and mitigate project risks across the entire development lifecycle
  • Produce high quality, well documented code that is robust, efficient, testable and consistent
  • Participate in code reviews, give actionable feedback, and mentor junior team members

Assist in transitioning prototypes to MVPs to deployment of AI products across diverse industries

Help create reusable environment and framework for AI/ML deployment

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a STEM field or equivalent experience (Computer Science, Engineering, Physics etc.); Master's degree preferred
  • 4+ years of software development experience in python for data science applications
  • 2+ years of experience building software on top of major container technology (Kubernetes, Docker, or similar)
  • Expert with modern software development best practices, CI/CD processes, and version control processes
  • Expert in working with both on-prem and cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud Platform, etc.
  • Proficient in additional programming languages such as, SQL, C/C
  • Live within commuting distance to one of Deloitte's consulting offices
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to travel 10%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve
  • Limited immigration sponsorship may be available

The wage range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets; experience and training; licensure and certifications; and other business and organizational needs. The disclosed range estimate has not been adjusted for the applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled. At Deloitte, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $138,000 to $230,000.

You may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program, subject to the rules governing the program, whereby an award, if any, depends on various factors, including, without limitation, individual and organizational performance.
