SummaryYou will join a team that is multi-disciplinary and focused on metrology research and development. The group designs and develops factory hardware test stations with accurate, traceable, and reliable measurement solutions that to scale to factory production lines. New and emerging technologies focus heavily on metrology and design characterization. The team provides end to end test strategy for new products driving full test coverage and factory readiness from proof of concept thru pre-production, to enable the test and calibration of a popular consumer electronics companies hardware products.The Lab support team provides operational and logistics support to multiple engineering teams. Candidate will be expected to have a solid background with electrical and mechanical aspects of automated test equipment and hardware test stations. You should have an Educational background in Electrical, Mechanical or Computer Engineering required (AS/BS preferred); plus, at least two years related NPI experience or equivalent.

DescriptionAs the Lab Manager, you will:
  • Manage and supervise work for multiple hardware test engineering labs, including but not limited to:
    • Test station equipment preparation and bringup (instruments, cables, fixtures, station SW install, network setup etc.)
    • Perform first level triage on technical issues (debug station setup, swap device/SW versions, troubleshoot data connection issues, analyze logs, etc
    • Document & implement SOP and necessary reports to create standards to enable engineers and third parties to follow best practices
    • Provide individual support to engineers & test station DRI, as well as provide and oversee day to day lab logistics support

Responsibilities
  • Enforce lab and equipment safety practices and environmental health and safety compliance policies
  • Retrofit stations with new hardware and conduct alignment procedures using measuring tools and gauge blocks
  • Take measurements using calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks and other metrology tools and instrumentation
  • Troubleshoot station problems that occur in software, electrical, or mechanical systems using DMM, oscilloscope, and signal generators
  • Conduct mechanical assembly using hand and power tools
  • Manage lab layout, set up, and infrastructure maintenance according to project schedules and space requirements
  • Coordinate equipment shipment tracking, receiving, and maintenance & Calibration of the equipment in each station
  • Organize, audit, and manage lab equipment assets, HW prototypes, supplies, and tools to ensure high productivity and organization for multiple engineering labs and teams
  • Document & implement guidelines, SOP’s, and necessary reports to create standards to enable engineers and third parties to follow lab best practices
  • Develop strategies and best practices to coordinate and minimize manual work by leveraging available technologies and resources
  • Proficient in MS Excel or other database tools and internet savvy Proficiency with MacOS tools (Keynote & Numbers)

skills
  • CAD: ability to review designs, interpolate critical dimensions, modify drawings, and create solid models and drawings for fabrication.
  • Experience with rapid prototyping and fabrication tools such as drill press, CNC Mill, and multi sensor imaging equipment
  • Software: ability to create and modify software scripts
  • PLC: familiar with setup, operation, and programming
