Job Description
Title: Systems Reliability User Research Contractor Location: Cupertino, CA 95014 Duration: 6 Months Summary The Reliability Engineering organization is seeking a researcher with a background in user testing to aid in the development of our future products and ensure product robustness. This is an active role with a wide range of responsibilities and collaborators. You will become part of a hands-on user research team that fosters engineering perfection, creativity, and innovation. Quick thinking, comfort with ambiguity, a keen attention to the impact of bias, and a creative approach to solving problems are crucial to success. Key Qualifications • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and effective way, both orally and written • Passion to provide accurate data analysis and reporting with a strong attention to detail • Have experience operating mechanical or electronic test equipment such as high speed video, load cells, accelerometers, or other data acquisition tools • Have a basic understanding of physics, statistics, and human factors • Ability to handle multiple studies at once and manage multiple deadlines Description The Reliability User Research team is highly collaborative with many cross-functional partners. We support all hardware and work alongside multiple engineering groups. You will be designing user studies with the intent to collect highly technical information relating to the durability of our products. You must be comfortable instrumenting prototypes to collect data in Client ways while keeping human factors in mind to capture natural user behavior. Research methods will utilize a combination of remote and in-person user studies, survey distribution, and lab experiments. You will need to provide visuallyfocused, clear and concise analytical feedback, informed by experimental data, statistics, and data from 3rd party sources. An ideal candidate can consistently demonstrate patience, even under stressful circumstances, has excellent interpersonal skills with a passion for working with people, and is capable of utilizing creativity, common sense, and technical skills to answer complex problems. This is a fast-paced, hands-on work environment where you are expected to be self-motivated and able to multitask. Study results can be reviewed at an executive level and have an impact on the final design of future products. Education & Experience B.S in either a human centered research field such as human factors, biomechanical engineering, or experimental psychology, or an engineering degree in physics, mechanical engineering, materials science, or industrial design.
