Position Overview:POSITION SUMMARY :The Infusion Nurse Specialist has primary accountability for patient outcomes. As leader of the patient care team, the Infusion Nurse Specialist delegates, supervises, and participates in patient care delivery. The Infusion Nurse Specialist coordinates care across all disciplines, in collaboration with the medical staff. This position serves as a resource person for hospital personnel, patients and their families, and all other related entities in all aspects of Infusion Therapy.The Infusion Nurse Specialist functions within the scope of licensure, implements the nursing process to include the following: assess patient and family needs; develop a plan of care based on assessment; coordinate or perform implementation of the plan of care; and review and evaluate the effectiveness.The Infusion Nurse Specialist ensures the physiological, psychosocial, safety, learning, rehabilitative, spiritual, cultural and self care needs of patients and their families are met. The patient population served includes patients receiving infusion therapy in outpatient and home infusion settings.Consistently provides care based on the age related needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient with consideration of their development/ psychosocial needs, environmental safety, education needs, communication style, and level of understanding.Qualifications:Education :Graduate of a school of nursing.Current California RN license.BSN preferred.ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Provider Card requiredCRNI (Certified Registered Nurse Intravenous) and / or OCN (Oncology Certified Nurse) preferred.Experience :Demonstrated clinical competency in intravenous nursing or equivalent background through experience in oncology, medical-surgical, critical care, or home infusion nursing positions in the last 2 years is required.Knowledge :Demonstrated competency in the fundamentals of nursing and pharmacology are required.Knowledge of outpatient and home infusion clinical practices is preferred.Demonstrated effective written and verbal communication skills.Basic knowledge of unit specific age criteria for patient population is required.Special Skills/Equipment :Valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification "for health care provider".Self-directed in coordinating the care plan for patient care delivery.Documented competency in IV Therapy, Chemotherapy is preferred.Completion of IV validation process required within 2 weeks of employment.Demonstrate knowledge of community resources, legal policies relating to patient decisions and outcomes.Demonstrate knowledge of the performance standards of other team members.Demonstrate skills in delegation, leadership, and team management concepts.Organization: Sutter Davis HospitalEmployee Status: RegularEmployee Referral Bonus: NoBenefits: NoPosition Status: Non-ExemptUnion: NoJob Shift: Day/EveningShift Hours: 8 Hour ShiftDays of the Week Scheduled: OtherWeekend Requirements: Every Other WeekendSchedule: Per DiemHrs Per 2wk Pay Period: 0-80All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, creed, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, registered domestic partner status, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, ancestry, national origin (including possession of a driver's license issued to individuals who did not present proof of authorized presence in the U.S.), age, medical condition, physical or mental disability, military or protected veteran status, political affiliation, pregnancy or perceived pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding or related medical condition, genetic information or any other characteristic made unlawful by local, state, or federal law, ordinance or regulation.
