Position Overview:Transports patients to/from Diagnostic Imaging Modalities to/from other hospital departments.Transport responsibilities may also include transporting inpatients to areas outside of Diagnostic Imaging.In addition to patient transport, the Patient Escort/Assistant helps transfer patients from beds, gurneys and wheel chairs to the imaging tables and back again.The Patient Escort/Assistant also provides clerical and logistical support to the Technologist; assisting with paperwork, coordinating transport, communicating with the unit RN, arranging additional patient care support and various other duties.Qualifications:EDUCATION
High School Diploma or equivalent education/experience required.
EXPERIENCE
Prior experience in an acute care setting desired with direct patient care experience preferred.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS
Basic Life Support Certification – BLS required.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
Knowledge of proper body mechanics, safe transfer techniques, knowledge and safe operation of a variety of transport equipment, including lift equipment.
Working knowledge of computer systems including Epic, NT, and Outlook.
Ability to effectively prioritize and assist in patient flow management.
Ability to effectively communicate to hospital staff, including Nursing Supervisor, Supervisors, Managers, and Physicians.
Ability to handle multiple competing demands, prioritizing multiple requests.
Must be able to utilize multiple hospital systems; EPIC, cisco phone, emergency call system.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with co-workers, patients, families and other health care staff.
Must be able to work in a rapidly changing and challenging environment and take appropriate actions in emergent situations.
Must be able to work under minimal supervision.
