The successful candidate will be working as a part of a highly skilled technical team that creates genetically modified mouse models for research. This is an excellent opportunity for learning cutting-edge genome editing technology, such as CRISPR, embryonic stem cells, etc. Job responsibilities:
- Management of mouse germline breeding colonies
- Ordering, organization and management of laboratory supplies and samples
- Media prep, dilutions
- Data entry and organization
- Embryo assessment and handling
- Miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned
- Minimum of Bachelor's degree in related field
- Incumbent must have 1 - 3 years related experience
- Basic understanding of animal husbandry, genetics, reproductive physiology, embryology, and molecular biology
- Experience in mouse handling/restraint, breeding and colony management
- Experience with laboratory ordering, and sample organization
- Proficiency with Excel, Powerpoint and Word. Ability to learn various computer databases for data entry and organization
- Ability to work independently and proactively with limited supervision
- Ability to work within a team context collaboratively, as well as across a dynamic scientific environment, therefore must have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and strong interpersonal skills
- Flexibility, enthusiasm, and a genuine desire to learn
- Experience with embryo assessment and handling
- Experience with animal organ collection and dissection
- Understanding of animal vivarium organization and procedures
