Director & Actuary I (PS32472)Location: United StatesNewRequisition #: PS32472Director and Actuary (PS32472)Must be able to sit onsite in an Anthem office: Virginia Beach, VA; Mason, OH; Indianapolis, IN; Atlanta, GA; St. Louis, MO; Richmond, VA; Louisville, KY; or Waukesha/Pewaukee, WI.Director will be responsible for leading the development of machine learning in Underwriting. Regularly collaborates with the Data Science team. Responsible for directing and providing leadership for actuarial/underwriting projects.Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
Guides staff in the preparation and interpretation of data and related formulae.
Assists Underwriting department head in developing the company's actuarial policies and procedures.
Directs and provides leadership in actuarial functions, which may include: the design, pricing, and implementation of assigned products; estimation of reserves and financial reporting, interpretation and projection; analysis of trends and cost of care initiatives; and actuarial modeling and analytics.
Maintains the product line to comply with various state and federal regulations.
Conducts and analyzes experience studies, validates pricing assumptions and monitors the consistency of company practices and procedures.
Performs short and long-term financial forecasting and analysis.
Responsible for decisions determining priority of work assignments, appropriateness of actuarial and statistical analysis, determining actuarial soundness of products, reserve position, underwriting guidelines, etc.
Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports.
Qualifications:
Requires a BA/BS in actuarial science, mathematics, statistics or related field; ASA/MAAA required; 7 years of related experience is also required.
May participate in the Actuarial Program.
