Job Description: Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking a Principal Network Communications - Collaboration (level 3)to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals located in Edwards CA. The Principal Network Communications will maintain smooth operation of local area, worldwide and Virtual Private Networks (VPN). Plans, evaluates, and coordinates installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings. Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions. Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems. May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment. May design network or portion of network that include selection of hardware and software packages. Will exhibit good communication skills, and communicate effectively at all levels of the organization with internal and external customers in written and oral format. Will work under minimal direction and independently determines and develops approach to solutions. Make recommendations to purchase hardware, software, system components. Analyze internal or external customer requirements and determine equipment and software requirements for solutions to problems. Will communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, with internal or external customers, in written and oral format. Recommend and implement system enhancements that will improve the performance and reliability of the system including installing, upgrading/patching, monitoring, problem resolution, and configuration management and develop and document technical processes and procedures as needed. Test new releases of products to ensure compatibility and minimize user impact. Other responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Support the establishment of Cisco Network Collaboration infrastructure design, implementation, and migration planning and fielding.
  • Provide support for Microsoft Windows Server platform and functions such as DHCP, DNS & RADIUS
  • Manage SCCM platform to support customer requests for agent installation and tuning monitors and rules.
  • Participate in new installations, testing and special projects as needed
  • Maintain and support smooth operation of multi-network architecture and topology.
  • Interact, meet, discuss, and troubleshoot issues with vendors; evaluate vendor products, services, and suggestions.
  • Adhere to Information Systems security guidelines and maintain security audit and logging information on all classified networked and standalone computers as directed by the Information Systems Security Manager (ISSM)
  • Prepare security documentation for input to Computer Security
  • Report project status as required for all recurring and non-recurring efforts and ensure necessary administration tasks are completed

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree and five years of Network Communications Collaboration experience; Masters degree and three years of relevant experience. In lieu of formal education, nine years of relevant job experience may be considered
  • Must be certified in CCNP Collaboration or Collaboration System Devices
  • Must have and able to maintain CompTIA Security+ CE certification
  • Must have a relevant Cisco Certification (i.e. CCNA, etc.)
  • Experience in Microsoft Windows Server, Workstation operating systems, end-user support in an Active Directory environment, advanced understanding of LAN/WAN networking.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends and support on call status for 24 hours-a-day, 7 days- a-week, and 365 days a year.
  • Must meet medical requirements for worldwide travel.
  • Must have and maintain a valid U.S. passport, accept customer furnished quarters for a period up to 90+ days away from primary work location and comply with mobility requirements.
  • Must have and active DoD Secret security clearance and be able to maintain that clearance and has the ability to obtain and retain Special Program access clearance within 365 days from submission.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Active DoD Top Secret Clearance
  • Experience in designing and planning network specifications and detailed schematics for network architecture
  • Experience to provide specific detailed information for hardware and software selection, implementation techniques and tools for the most efficient solution to meet business needs, including present and future capacity requirements
  • Experience with conducting test of network design and interfacing; such as routers, switches, and firewalls
  • Experience with SolarWinds and other Network Monitoring Systems
