Job Description

What Your Impact Will Be:

  • Leads low to medium model making projects; builds functioning low to medium complexity prototype models from design sketches with simple mechanisms.
  • Receives direction from a lead model maker and partners with design and development on any product clarification/specifications.
  • Assisting in ideation and invention in support of the development of products by larger and/or more complicated projects led by Sr or Master Model Maker.
  • Support toy fair models, onsite modifications and improvements as needed.
  • Acts independently on less complicated projects, may require management interaction to meet critical deadlines.
  • Cross-train with higher level model makers to increase skillset.
  • Adhere to safe working practices.
  • Support DIJ and large format printing and heat transfer operations.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For:

  • CAM programming, setup, and operation of CNC mills and lathes to machine complex surface geometry (including 5-axis mill).
  • Utilization of CAM software i.e., Siemens, Autodesk, etc.
  • Ability to use metal and wood shop equipment i.e., mills, lathes, saws, drills, grinders, etc.
  • Ability to model parts and assemblies using CAD applications i.e., Creo, SolidWorks, Rhino, etc.
  • Ability to assist with ideation and invention working in a team environment with cross functional partners from design and engineering.
  • Ability to quickly adapt to change and meet tight deadlines.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe Photoshop & Illustrator.
  • Formal machine technology or similar training and accreditation preferred.
  • 4+ years of job related experience.
  • Examples of work demonstrating skills preferred.

Secondary skills:

  • Modelmaking background in a product design, prototype, or experimental shop environment having experience with machine setup, fixture building, and custom tool grinding.
  • Willingness to support other processes i.e., DIJ printing, laser cutting, plating, rotational molding, modelmaking, etc.
  • Experience with hazardous materials and knowledge related to EHS.
