We are seeking to hire additional top talent to join our CPCTD team soon! The Communications Payload, Command and Telemetry Department (CPCTD) under Aerospace Corporation provides communication hardware and systems engineering expertise to a wide range of space communication payload programs for military, national, civil and commercial customers.As a Communications Hardware Systems Architect/Engineer supporting, you will look to support in the concept development and payload sizing, architecture trades, prototype design and modeling, link budget analysis construction and analysis, radio frequency interference studies, flight system test, hardware anomaly resolution, optical communication, and encryption hardware and system integration. Our teams have extensive and well-established professional relationships with our U.S. Government Agency customers and programs and we are continuously growing our departments to meet the needs of our customers demands. Key Responsibilities:- Perform independent analyses to support requirement development and allocation, request for proposal (RFP), and source selection activities.
- Develop next generation RF, digital, and/or optical satellite communication subsystem requirements definition of T&C digital subsystem and interface definitions with other subsystems and hosted payloads.
- Support communication system design reviews, integration & test phases, anomaly resolution, spacecraft launch, and in-orbit check-out.
- Perform link budgets to support and optimize independently participate in quick-turnaround conceptual design and advanced architecture studies and requirements definitions for T&C systems.
- Provide timely written and verbal technical assessment reports to program office, line management, and technical conferences.
- Develop analysis and modeling tools using MATLAB and object-oriented software platforms to assess subsystem, satellite, and system level performance.
- Identify and develop new business opportunities with new and existing department customers.
- Function as project manager and customer interface for cross-disciplined teams.
- Obtained a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Or Physics Or another related field
- Minimum of 8-years of related experience as an Electrical Systems Engineer supporting communication/navigation systems
- Technical support in the following space communication/navigation system areas:
- System architecture, concept design and requirement definition
- Communication system simulation and link analyses
- System level Assembly, integration and test (AI&T)
- Anomaly and failure analysis management and resolution
- Design and test of analog and digital communication hardware
- The successful candidate should be comfortable in both fast-paced teaming environment as well as work independently
- Have broad experience in multiple DoD and NRO comm Systems
- Have demonstrated creativity in problem solving, conflict resolution, and teaming challenges
- Possess high learning capacity with ability to rapidly grasp new concepts and adapt quickly
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential
- 10 - 15% domestic travel to AGO and other locations, as needed
- Abillity to obtain TS clearance with SCI access
- A minimum of 12 years of related experience as an electrical systems engineer in communication/navigation systems
- Mentor junior engineers in their technical development and understanding of customer needs
- Demonstrated successful team building and leadership across multiple disciplines
- Demonstrated experience in the role of senior advisor/reviewer
- Currently holding an active TS clearance with SCI access
- Obtained advanced degree in engineering, physics or related field
- Experience in the following:
- Support to SMC and NRO space programs as a communications engineer
- SPW, MATLAB, Visual Basic, or other communication system analytical tools
- GNSS payload, receiver, and system
- Space communication security (COMSEC) and transmission security (TRANSEC) methods and hardware
- Requirement definition and concept design of space communication or navigation systems.
- Communication system simulation analysis
- Satellite terminal communication system
