The Information Systems and Cyber Division (ISCD) is an outstanding engineering and scientific leader in electronics and cybersecurity engineering. The Cyber Defense Solutions Department (CDSD) resides within ISCD and focuses on critical cyber R&D and rapid prototyping in the areas of Defensive Cyber Operations, Hardware Security & Specialty Engineering, Vulnerability Research & Weaponization, Cloud Security & Applied Cyber Policy, as well as Spacecraft Security. We support a variety of customers including the Space Force's Space Systems Command (SSC), the National Reconnaissance Office (NRO), and other civil customers (e.g. NASA) in order to resolve unique challenges in implementation and research.

This position will be a hybrid work model - partially remote, with some onsite work required primarily in El Segundo, CA.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Directly contribute to department prototype efforts as well as perform cyber engineering / security systems engineering assistance to Aerospace Program Office customers. Assist Program Office personnel with developing and distributing tasking to junior engineers within the department.
  • Review, evaluate, and develop - protection profiles, evaluation methodologies, policies, and testable requirements.
  • Lead cyber security engineers and software developers to support the mission covering full spectrum cyber.
  • Collaborate with external organizations (government and commercial) to provide technical support and outreach of CDSD technical capabilities.
  • Build relationships with program offices and government customers to advertise and sustain the department's activities.
  • Work with other Aerospace departments in the subdivision to develop and deploy new technical demonstrations and capabilities.

What You Need to be Successful

Cyber Security Engineer Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university in cybersecurity, computer science, or another related field.
  • 6 or more years of relevant experience directly related to cyber security, systems engineering, software development, embedded systems, or similar fields.
  • Proficient with bash, shell, PowerShell, and/or basic scripting on Linux and Windows platforms.
  • Hold at least one current DoD 8570 IAT/IAM/IASAE Level II or Level III certification
  • Knowledge of DoD cybersecurity policies, including Risk Management Framework (RMF) or NIST SP 800-53
  • Proven ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal and working relationships with different levels of corporate staff, peers, management, program offices, customers, and contractors.
  • Outstanding interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills for interactions at all organizational levels.
  • Willing to travel domestically up to 25%.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a clearance.

Sr. Cyber Security Engineer Minimum Requirements:
  • All of the above requirements for Cyber Security Engineer
  • 10 or more years of relevant experience directly related to cyber security, systems engineering, software development, embedded systems, or similar fields.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
  • Multiple cybersecurity related certifications from vendors such as: ISC2, SANS, CompTIA, EC-Council, AWS/Azure/Google, Offensive Security.
  • Proficient with multiple programming languages such as C/C, Python, or Java.
  • Advanced degree from an accredited university in electrical engineering, computer science, cyber security, or another related field.
  • Current and active Top Secret clearance with Sensitive Compartmented Information access.
  • Experience with space or industrial control systems, including familiarity with space, ground and user segments, as well as legacy software.
