Then a role as a Digital Communications & Signal Processing Engineer in the Digital Communication Implementation Department (DCID), under The Aerospace Corporation's Communication Technologies and Engineering Division (CTED), is the ideal landing spot for your next career move!

CTED focuses on main-mission communication satellites, wideband links, command and telemetry, and terrestrial networks, along with their enabling technologies. The division comprises all aspects, from architectures to implementation; our engineers work directly with corporate customers to ensure robust and resilient communications.

DCID uses software-defined radios and FPGA technology to develop advanced communication and navigation system prototypes (GNSS, PNT, GPS, etc.) that solve the toughest problems related to digital communication systems. DCID's support includes guiding the acquisition of next generation communication and navigation systems needed by our customer, helping industry implement cutting edge technology and creating innovative solutions to our customers' most challenging problems. Our group supports exciting programs such as the Aerospace CubeSat SlingShot Platform , development of the Payload Characterization and Environments (PACE) Lab , and compete in challenges such as the Blind Signal Classification Challenge . What You'll Be Doing

  • Develop and implement signal processing algorithms with applications to GPS / GNSS receivers and/or communication transceivers and/or digital signal processing primarily on FPGA hardware.
  • Analysis of signal processing performance using Matlab, Python, or similar simulation environments.
  • Prototype of cutting-edge real-time systems for emulation and proof of concept.
  • Research pertaining to advanced signal processing, GPS technology and/or re-configurable communication processing.

  • Document work products in briefings and/or technical reports to customers and colleagues.

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelors froman accredited university in Electrical Engineering,Computer Science, or another related field
  • Minimum of 3- years of experience (time spent pursuing advanced degree counts toward these ) in an area of digital signal processing, GNSS positioning and navigation, alternative navigation techniques.
  • Proficiency with any of the following: MATLAB, C/C, Python, VHDL.
  • Experience with DSP algorithm design and implementation .
  • Experience implementing digital communication and/or DSP algorithms in hardware using FPGAs and/or ASICs.

  • Proficiency in Verilog or VHDL, logic implementation, and simulation tools for complex FPGA designs.
  • Detailed understanding of FPGA RTL design, hardware architecture, testbench design, synthesis, static timing analysis, timing closure, and clock domain crossing.
  • Eligibility to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the U.S. government, which requires the selected candidate to be of U.S. Citizenship.

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:

  • Obtained a Master's degree in Electrical Engineering,Computer Science, or another related field
  • Solid laboratory experience troubleshooting digital hardware designs using logic analyzers / Chipscope / other measurement devices.
  • Experience using GNURadio , USRPs, and the RFNoC framework

  • Experience programming GPUs, hardware acceleration, process parallelization
  • Experience with RF lab equipment (spectrum analyzers, network analyzers , oscilloscopes)
  • Experience using Linux , Real Time operating system s and DevOps tools ( Jira, Git , Jenkins )
  • Experience with Machine Learning .
