Job Summary

The Systems Engineering Division (SED) provides unmatched experience in systems engineering to the U.S. government and to numerous public and private agencies, universities, nonprofit organizations, consortia, and commercial companies involved in the advanced application of space technology. From systems architecture development to system analysis and optimization, astrodynamics, orbital debris, navigation, failure analysis, mission assurance, cost and schedule assessment, and economic market analysis, SED exploits an incredibly broad array of engineering and business disciplines against a diverse and dynamic portfolio of programs and national challenges.

The Integrated Cost and Schedule Analysis Department (iCASA) is the corporate focal point for schedule/cost analysis, and related estimating methodologies. iCASA supports many customers throughout the National Security, civil government, commercial and international space communities. We collect lessons learned from a wide variety of programs to help develop better cost, schedule, and risk management techniques.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Provide research and analysis of schedule and technical data, along with the development of schedule risk assessments (SRAs) to support the government in the procurement of cost-effective space systems for a wide customer base: DoD, Civil and Commercial, and the Intelligence Community
  • Lead support to space and/or ground acquisition program offices and independent review teams in a wide range of programmatic and technical analyses
  • Develop integrated master schedules (IMSs) and high-level master phasing schedules (MPS) ensure scheduling best practices are adhered to
  • Conduct and provide schedule diagnostics/metrics to include DCMA 14-Point assessment and GAO Best Practices. Able to analyze schedules and make informed decisions as required
  • Additional activities may include support to engineering trade studies; program technical baseline development support; program office studies; proposal evaluation support; derivation of schedule estimating relationships; development and maintenance of in-house simulation models and tools
  • Candidates must be able to communicate sophisticated concepts to the program office (PO) and Customer and be responsible for ensuring Aerospace technical quality in terms of completeness, relevance, accuracy, and timeliness
  • Candidates must be able to work and communicate effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment, react quickly to changing requirements and schedules
  • Candidates must be able to think critically and work effectively to synthesize information from multiple sources, and provide informed information into narratives as deliverables
  • Mentor junior level staff charged with similar duties
  • Travel when required

What You Need to be Successful
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Science, or related field
  • Typically, 8 years of relevant experience, including detailed experience with space and launch systems acquisitions as well as systems engineering planning; ground systems experience highly desirable
  • Experience developing and maintaining MS Project schedules; familiarity with industry schedule models, methodologies, and schedule databases.
  • Experience conducting SRAs is strongly desired, including SRA tool familiarization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience with schedule modeling and simulation; advanced programming skills is strongly desired
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance

How You Can Stand Out

It would be impressive if you have one or more of these:
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Science, or related science field
  • Expertise with industry cost models (ACEIT JACS, Milestones Pro, Steelray, Full Monte, etc.)
  • Computer programming and modeling, especially for purposes of developing tools to derive schedule estimating relationships
  • Teaching experience, especially in technical subjects
  • Industry certification (e.g., PMP, PMI-ACP)
  • Current DoD TS and/or SSBI/SCI Clearance

Grade-Based Pay Range

(Min - Mid - Max)$103,285 - $168,019 - $232,752
