The Data Platforms and Architectures Department develops data analysis pipelines, tools and platforms to enable the full exploitation of historical and streaming data sets for a variety of civil and national security space customers. Join us as a Software Engineer - Cloud Development on the Data Platforms and Architectures Department team in The Aerospace Corporation!This position is a hybrid work model and works mostly remotely with occasional (1-2 times a month) onsite work required in El Segundo, CA; Colorado Springs, CO; or Chantilly, VA. There is also an option for full-time onsite if desired.What You'll Be Doing- Learning by doing: Expand your knowledge and skills to become a cloud native developer through hands on development, mentorship, and classes
- Developing cloud native applications to solve some of the toughest problems currently facing the space enterprise
- Working with and learning from a group of developers and subject matter experts to support a broad array of space-related projects and advance your own skills
- Leveraging the cloud to provide data engineering and data architecture solutions as our customers' data volumes continue to grow at exponential rates
- Interfacing with project leaders, product owners, and customers to convey your key contributions to a project
- Pitching new project ideas to address emerging technology focus areas and lead your project as the principal investigator
- Working closely with National Security Space, United States Space Force, and other Department of Defense customers
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university program in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
- 2 or more years of industry experience
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Python and/or Java
- Experience using Git for source control
- Course work in data structures and algorithms
- Experience developing in Linux environments
- This position requires ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to obtain a security clearance.
- All of the above requirements for Member of Technical Staff
- 5 or more years of professional industry experience
- Advanced degree (MS or PhD from an accredited program in Computer Science or Computer Engineering)
- Cloud native application development experience using Docker
- Familiarity with utilizing and creating APIs
- Experience deploying applications to Kubernetes
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge of C or C
- Experience with AWS
- Knowledge of data architectures and platforms
- Familiarity with microservice architectures
