The Data Platforms and Architectures Department develops data analysis pipelines, tools and platforms to enable the full exploitation of historical and streaming data sets for a variety of civil and national security space customers. Do you want to do groundbreaking data engineering and do innovative work on the open-source data processing frameworks with the ability to intelligently scale? Join us as a Senior Software Engineer - on the Data Platforms and Architectures Department team in The Aerospace Corporation!

This position is a hybrid work model and works mostly remotely with occasional (1-2 times a month) onsite work required in El Segundo, CA; Colorado Springs, CO; or Chantilly, VA.

There is also an option for full-time onsite if desired.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Crafting cloud native solutions to some of the toughest problems currently facing the space enterprise
  • Leading a team of developers by providing project and technical leadership
  • Pitching new project ideas to address emerging technology focus areas and own your project as the principal investigator
  • Interacting directly with product owners and customers to iterate on the best solution to tackle their hardest problems
  • Guiding customers through assessments of their existing legacy application environments, provide recommendations on a prioritization roadmap for application modernization and identify applications for migration to cloud
  • Working closely with National Security Space, United States Space Force, and other Department of Defense customers

What You Need to be Successful

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's or advanced Science degree from an accredited program in computer science or other applicable STEM concentrations
  • 6+ years of professional experience in the industry
  • 5+ years of experience with cloud native development, cloud platforms, and cloud technologies
  • Proven ability to lead teams
  • Ability to design a cloud native solution to a customer problem from the ground up
  • Cloud native application design and deployment experience using Docker and Kubernetes
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Python and/or Java
  • Experience with applying and creating APIs
  • Familiarity with monitoring, tracing, and service mesh technologies
  • Experience using Git for source control
  • This position requires ability to acquire and maintain a security clearance, which is issued by the US government. U.S citizenship is required to acquire a security clearance

  • Advanced [Masters, PhD] degree from an accredited program in computer science or other applicable STEM concentration
  • Experience with AWS
  • Experience with data security and governance technologies
  • Knowledge of data virtualization and data access
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of C and/or C

Grade-Based Pay Range

(Min - Mid - Max)$145,000 - $155,000 - $165,000
