Job Req #: 21-00282Job Description: Director/Sr. Director, R&D Finance & Portfolio AnalyticsLocation: San Francisco CA Position Type: FTE/ Direct HireThe Director/Sr. Director - R&D Finance will provide key business partnering support to our clients Research & Development Functions and Portfolio. Based in either Cambridge, Massachusetts or San Francisco Bay Area, CA and reporting into the VP of R&D Finance, this role will be an important member of the Finance leadership teams. The ideal candidate will serve as a key, strategic thought partner to both the VP of R&D Finance and broader senior R&D team, and as a leader within the internal finance function. Essential Functions of the job:
- Support the annual operating plan, budget and quarterly forecasting processes
- Provide decision support for portfolio governance decisions
- Provide financial support to our external development collaborations
- Develop internal reporting packages, dashboards and monthly BVA reports to support decision making
- Proactively identify, design, and implement enhancements to existing sourcing and governance processes to drive enterprise efficiency and resource optimization
- Provide management with forecast insights, performance metrics and financial analytics for improved organizational decision making
- Strong knowledge of FP&A reporting systems
- Strong computer software skills (Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience using financial systems, including skill with ERP and budgeting tools (e.g., TM1, Hyperion, Adaptive, etc)
- 10+ years of relevant experience in financial planning role, preferably in pharma or biotech organization
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance or Accounting required
- Strong business partnering, influencing and analytical skills with demonstrated business insights and process impact in previous roles
