The division advances patient care with diagnostic solutions to improve disease detection and management, and simplify laboratory operations.The Manager, R&D Operations will assist the Associate Director, R&D Operations and the various R&D functions with managing and overseeing operational tasks and initiatives. May lead project teams on special projects.Primary responsibilities for role:

Troubleshoot on operational issues related to R&D programs/functions. Develop efficient and effective strategies for problem resolution and implementation.

Manage capital expenditures spend and track actuals against budget; support proposals for new funding

Optimize value, time, resources and risks using interface with other functions (e.g., Quality, TechOps, Facilities, Finance, etc).

Identify issues and lead contingency planning.

Identify and implement cross-site and cross-functional synergies, improvements and cost savings.

Represent department and its interests on cross functional teams, act as liaison from the department to other functions.

Support new R&D project facility build up and expansions – planning and operationally

Oversee compliance to and management of scientific records to protect intellectual property

Lead administrative team to plan departmental meetings, workshops, and events as needed

Fulfill advisory role to all department administrative functions.

Oversee and manage Scientific Review Process for R&D publications, abstracts, and posters, working different functions (Scientific Affairs, Legal, etc.)

Support Finance to communicate and enforce Finance rules, requirements and timelines

Work with major functional area leads to identify and evaluate functional operational requirements and efficacy

Ensure departmental compliance with relevant SOPs

Additional Responsibilities:

Success in helping resolve operational issues in conjunction with other functions.

Propose and oversee operational efficiency or process improvements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Experience overseeing scientific records management with understanding of quality and legal requirements

Familiarity with information management systems and controls (SAP, DCM, etc.) and GxPs

Ability to develop and document processes and to write standard operating procedures

Experience working in cross-functional teams or processes

Must possess strong written, oral and interpersonal communication skills

Ability to inspire, motivate, and build teams

Adaptable to multiple changing and diverse priorities; results driven with ability to meet tight deadlines

Ability to identify existing problems in processes and proactively innovate new solutions for un-met business needs

Experience with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Powerpoint.

Experience with collaborative workspace platforms (ie.SharePoint), SAP, Visio, Maximo, Adobe suite of tools.

Experience managing capital expenditures and utilizing financial reporting systems and processes

Education:Bachelors or Associates degree with relevant industry experience equivalentExperience:5+ years of experience in operational roles, internal customer focused projects (7+ years if AA degree instead of Bachelors)Equivalency:Depending on the area of assignment, directly related experience or a combination of directly related education and experience and/or competencies may be considered in place of the stated requirements.
