Job Description
As a Network Engineer II, you will design, support, install, and maintain Cerner's internal network infrastructure, related technologies and equipment. You will be responsible for designing, installing, and maintaining local area networks, wide area network, and wireless network components, work on and maintain hardware components, including firewalls, load balancers, routers, switches and access points. You will coordinate network changes and communicate with impacted stakeholders, perform project work to update or replace network equipment and troubleshoot network connectivity issues. You will also be responsible for configuring or upgrading network components, documenting network diagrams, and mentoring and supporting associates in daily tasks and troubleshooting.Qualifications Basic Qualifications- At least 6 years of total combined and related work experience and completed higher education including:
- At least 1 year of system administration and/or system engineering work experience
- At least 5 years of higher education and/or additional work experience directly related to the duties of the job
- Bachelors degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering or related field, or equivalent relevant work experience
- At least 2 years Network protocol work experience across local area networks, wide area networks, or wireless networks
- Healthcare IT experience
- At least 1 year of experience with Layer 1 cabling infrastructure
- Experience with Load Balancers, Firewalls, Servers / VMWare
- Certified Wireless Network Administrator (CWNA)
- Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA)
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
- Cisco Certified Network Associate Wireless (CCNA)
- Must reside in or around the San Diego, CA area
- May be required to lift up to 20 lbs., i.e. server, network equipment
- Willing to travel up to 20% as needed
- Willing to work additional or irregular hours as needed and allowed by local regulations
- Work in accordance with corporate and organizational security policies and procedures, understand role in safeguarding corporate and client assets, and take appropriate action to prevent and report any compromises of security within scope of position
