Job Summary

Do you have deep experience with application architecture, including React, Camunda, Python, microservices and AWS? Are you a strategic, innovative Architect with expertise in next-gen enterprise application design and solutioning? If so, we want you to join our team!

As our Software Solution Engineer you will help integrate, modernize and build new and existing enterprise platforms across our entire organization. These platforms will change how First American does business in our industry. If you are looking for a place to make an immense impact and be a strong influence, this is the position for you!

This position has the opportunity for remote work.

Essential Functions
  • Work with Information Security team members, customers, stakeholders and product managers to understand and maintain a high-level understanding of the current and upcoming requirements for the system
  • Understand and communicate the functional & nonfunctional requirements.
  • Evaluate design alternatives, and perform cost benefit analysis
  • Develop and maintain whatever models and documentation are necessary to describe how the system does what it is intended to do, including recommended domain and user case models
  • Define and split large architectural objectives into smaller incremental objectives
  • Present the technological vision of the solution during planning, provide domain models and exemplary use cases that describe larger system behavior, and participate actively in interactively during the planning process
  • Champion change by serving as a resource to help teams make appropriate system and component level design decisions during implementation
  • Top level technical expert in one or more highly specialized phases of applications programming.
  • Research, design, write, test and implement complex software applications and systems
  • Provide practical, actionable approaches to overcoming technical and procedural challenges in implementing strategy.
  • Lead Architect governance.
  • Champion change; drive and set technical direction affecting multiple groups/business units.
  • Provide leadership by instructing, mentoring and training team members within and outside the work group.
  • Work with other architects to establish common roadmaps in support of upcoming user and business needs
  • Interact with and influence senior management on technical matters requiring coordination between organization.
  • Provides technical consulting on complex projects and being able to explain technical concepts to non-technical business stakeholders.
  • Develop short and long-term roadmaps for the products supported.
  • Educate team members on the technologies leveraged and why those are the best fit.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Technology
  • Fluent in multiple application development languages at an expert level - .Net, C#, Python
  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) aka: Terraform, DevOps Automation (Jenkins, Chef)
  • Knowledge of container technologies such as Kubernetes, Docker, AWS ECS
  • Expertise in designing programs, applications and systems - especially microservices, AWS and Data solutions
  • Experience with traditional database technologies such as SQL, Microsoft SQL server, PostgreSQL
  • Experience with NoSQL databases
  • Constantly updating technical knowledge and skills and mentoring others to increase the skill level of the department and the company
  • Ability to convey technical and conceptual ideas/topics to non-technical personnel
  • Presentation & demonstration skills
  • Strong organizational or Project Management skills
  • Ability to design systems with Infrastructure, Network and server operations team in building complex enterprise level applications.

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Technology
  • Experience with Mortgage industry domain and processes
  • Experience with data warehousing technologies such as AWS RedShift and Snowflake
  • Workflow engine background preferred.

Typical Education
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Typical Range of Experience
  • 2-5 years of as an Application Solution Architect
  • Experience working with cross functional teams is preferred (Information Security, Compliance, Enterprise Architecture)
  • Deep experience with AWS, microservices, application architecture and Data solutions is required
