Organization:PAMF-Palo Alto Medical Foundation ALDPosition Overview:To provide laboratory testing services. Duties include obtaining specimens, performing testing, preparing specimens for transportation, providing laboratory reports, participation in quality control and quality assurance programs, and maintenance of laboratory equipment. Clinical Laboratory Scientists of all levels must demonstrate good judgment and technical skill.Job Description :PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIESIn addition to the key accountabilities listed, employees working in this position are expected to accept and perform other duties as requested. All employees are responsible for integrating security practices in daily work by appropriately using and safeguarding SH IS resources in compliance with SH policies and procedures.Perform all testing accurately and in a timely manner according to established policies and procedures.Performs scheduled maintenance & Troubleshooting instrument as needed.Quality Control, Calibrations and Troubleshooting outliers/ complete documentation Calling Critical Values & complete documentationSatisfactorily complete all assigned CAP proficiencies and in a timely manner.Perform QA support operations. Monitor and resolve pending and QA logs and exception reportsTake responsibility for MD & patient concerns. Use good customer service skills in all contacts with patients, staff, and physicians Gathering data for validations & correlationsAssist in Central Processing area when necessary. Be responsible for monitoring and maintaining adequate testing supplies and inventorySKILLS AND KNOWLEDGEDecision Making/Problem Solving: Demonstrate ability to work independently. Ability to accept, implement and evaluate change. Knowledge of phlebotomy, specimen handling, processing and experience with Lab Information Systems.Expert knowledge and ability to perform in all technical areas of the lab as assigned.Basic knowledge of how to operate and troubleshoot all essential laboratory and office equipment.Planning/Organizational Skills: The ability to perform with minimum supervision, all routine procedures and the most advanced procedures in the laboratory. Ability to accept, implement and evaluate changeTYPICAL EXPERIENCEPreferred one (1) year continuous experience as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist.For CLS without experience, prior experience in the clinical laboratory/healthcare and Palo Alto Medical Foundation (3 years) is preferred.
