These cover a very wide range from advanced mission payloads and electronic systems through highly integrated aircraft to orbital and space exploration systems. You'll perform coding, debugging, testing, and troubleshooting of systems and software throughout our development process. Your technical duties involve the design and development of new software products throughout the product lifecycle.

The Mission Solutions and Technologies (MST) business area provides affordable, turn-key command/control, communications, integrated ISR, force protection and security solutions worldwide. Software engineer will be required to support embedded FPGA software design. The candidate is required to perform requirement analysis, design, development, documentation, integration and test of hardware level software programming (FPGA, SoC, MPSoC, microcontroller, etc.). Software designs will be integrated into small form factor security devices and network real-time embedded systems.

Responsibilities include software requirement generation, high level and detail design, implementation, unit test, integration, test, and debug.

Must-haves:
  • Bachelor's of Science degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or other related discipline and typically 6 or more years of relevant experience
  • Experience with Embedded software development (C/C) using embedded Linux
  • Fundamental understanding of FPGA architecture
  • Experience with Microcontroller programming (hardware level programming)
  • Experienced with data structures
  • Familiarity with interrupt processing and memory allocation
  • Experience with hardware interfaces, such as Serial/I2C/SPI, USB, and Ethernet
  • Understanding of Computer Aided Engineering tools
  • Ability to write and test software modules and integrate with other software and/or hardware components.
  • Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams
  • Understanding of industry standard software languages such as C, C#, C, HTML, Java, Python, and Bash
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a Security Clearance may be required. Learn more about the background check process for Security Clearances

Preferred:
  • Experience with software tools for requirements tracking, code reviews, static analysis, library and artifact repository, and automated build
  • Knowledge of software development methodologies such as Agile/Scrum, Waterfall, and Spiral
  • Experience using development/debug tools, such as Visual Studio, JTAG Ice, GNU Debugger
  • Previous experience with generating software product design documentation, such as SRS, SDD, STP, STD, etc.
  • Experience with integration/troubleshooting tools such as Scope/Logic/USB/I2C analyzers
  • Minimal fundamental knowledge UDP/TCP/IP and other communication protocols
  • Experience with Xilinx Vivado/Vitis design suite
  • Secure coding best practice skills with understanding of various standards, such as MISRA and DO-178B
  • Object oriented design, software requirements definition skills, and ability to work in fast-paced collaborative environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a multi-functional team environment
  • Co-work with hardware engineers in circuit board and system integration
  • Co-work with systems engineers for requirement definition, allocation, and verification
