Job Description

The Regional Executive Director is responsible for the overall direction of the hospice services. The Regional Executive Director is also responsible for establishing standards of care to comply with federal and state regulations and guidelines. The Regional Executive Director establishes, implements and evaluates goals and objectives for hospice services that meet and promote the standards of quality and contribute to the total organization and philosophy.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Oversight of operational planning and budgeting.

2. Ensures organizational compliance with legal, regulatory and accreditation requirements.

3. Assures that all businesses conduct is above the minimum standards required by law and will not condone any activities that achieve results through violation of the law, unethical business or patient care practices.

4. Oversight and works closely with local leader of business operations to insure financial stability.

5. Is made aware of conflict and complaint management and resolution. Utilizes Bridge Group HR for employee relations issues.

6. Establishes and ensures effective channels of communication including integration or technology, as applicable.

7. Works with local leaders to ensure hospice personnel stay current with clinical information and practices.

8. Works with local leader to ensure adequate and appropriate staffing. Ensures staffing ratiosare being followed.

9. Ensures staff development including orientation, in-service, continuing education, competency testing and quality assessment performance improvement is being conducted.

10. Ensures that interdisciplinary care is consistently provided.

11. Ensures staff and organizations stay current on local and national hospice issues and trends.

12. Ensures that appropriate service policies and procedures are developed and implemented to accomplish identified outcomes.

13. In conjunction with local leader, monitors service utilization to ensure delivery of comprehensive care.

14. Ensures services provided by other agencies are authorized by hospice.

15. Monitors operational progress toward accomplishing operational and strategic goals.

16. Ensures appropriate data collection and regular, complete reports are received by the VP, Operations.

17. In conjunction with local leader, ensures actionable objectives are derived from evaluation of hospice services and personnel.

18. Ensures that structure and systems promote consistent interdisciplinary care.

19. Ensures standards of ethical business and clinical practices are maintained at all times.

Qualifications

1. A Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Masters Degree in health care or related field preferred.2. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in health care management.3. Demonstrates an ability to supervise and direct professional and administrative personnel. Has an ability to deal tactfully with the community.4. Has knowledge of corporate business management5. Understands hospice care and the services provided to patient and family/caregiver through an interdisciplinary group.6. Intimate knowledge of Medicare Hospice Certification, federal and state regulations and ACHC standards.
