Job Description

The Staff Technical Writer, working with product development teams, acquires and analyzes product information and develops and maintains a range of documents. To develop content, the writer utilizes and develops product specifications, works with medical equipment, and interfaces with engineers, surgeons, and others as needed. The writer ensures that documents meet the company’s standards for technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and usability.

Travel Requirements:

This position requires less than 10% travel for training/medical sites.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Generate new technical content, document formatting, create and procure artwork, and coordinate projects to final print and/or electronic distribution
  • Develop and release product labeling such as user manuals, service instructions, quick reference guides, training materials, instruction sheets, and package labels
  • Support the development and maintenance of publications such as company web page content, marketing collateral, clinical documentation, and internal plans, policies, and procedures
  • Execute necessary change orders or other processes in compliance with quality system guidelines
  • Coordinate and implement translations of publications into required local languages
  • Ensure documents are accurate, complete, clear, consistent, and appropriate for the target audience
  • Follow industry standards and best practices for FDA and CE regulatory compliance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree: English or related field, or life science/ technical field
  • 5+ years’ experience developing software/hardware/medical documentation for end users
  • Advanced editing and writing skills and experience with the complete publications cycle
  • Advanced understanding and experience with desktop publishing tools
  • Ability to independently analyze a problem, determine a solution, and drive its implementation
  • Skilled at prioritizing, organizing, and managing multiple projects to meet required timelines with minimal supervision
  • Ability to produce accurate, clearly presented customer product documentation
  • Excellent project management and interpersonal communication skills
  • Customer-focused
  • Experience working in an FDA-regulated industry and an understanding of product labeling regulations and standards
  • Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and applicable Quality System Standards.
