Title: Storage Operations EngineerDuration: 6 MonthsLocation: Remote until Covid (Fremont, CA)Client: Ahead Job Scope:5+ years’ experience configuring and managing NetApp and (some Isilon) storage subsystems in a fast-paced Linux / UNIX production enterprise level environment. Support day-to-day operations and maintenances. Perform specific tasks including provisioning, troubleshooting and some automation and scripting (command line interface knowledge required) as is understanding of enterprise system networks (hardware, software, protocols), advanced knowledge of storage administration tools and practices and proficiency in systems analysis, project planning and negotiating (vendor / team relations). Key Skills: NetApp, CDOT, Pure FlashArray, EMC Isilon, ServiceNow, Daily Storage Operations (patches, upgrades, tickets, migrations, troubleshooting) TASKS / EXPECTATIONSPerform / lead and oversee upgrades, maintenance, migrations, Installations, upgrades, patches and be able to demonstrate that experience in detail.Work with equipment vendors and customer support, tickets, troubleshooting, problem escalation including phone support, on premise or on-phone root cause analysis.Effectively communicate with team members, partners, vendors, customers, etc.Navigate the process and solve issues using various means, collaboration and solutions. SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS5+ years’ experience in an enterprise NetApp and Isilon environment (mostly NetApp).Possess a solid understanding of storage systems architecture and design.Linux, UNIX, NetApp CDOT, Isilon, VMware, multi-site DR systems, Raid-DP, CDOT, Pure FlashArray.Experience with data protection and backup recovery solutions.Operational experience in at least a 10PB / 10 cluster environment or similar scale.Some working knowledge with Isilon arrays / clusters.Relative experience configuring a cluster from scratch without vendor assistance.Experience performing storage operating system upgrades.Perform upgrades, planning / coordination, determining compatibility and bugs fixed in new versions.Must have hands on experience executing migrations and a significant role in planning, coordinating or designing the solution for the migration target.Experience with various replication technology.Working experience with SmartLock (Isilon) and SnapLock (NetApp).Use of CLI 85-90% (as opposed to GUI) for system management is required. ABILITYAbility react to events decisively, effectively and without prior thought or planning.Focused and concise in verbal and written communications, written communication skills (reporting).Clearly outline and/or explain solutions in email form (to team members and end users) is a must.Technical aptitude to figure things out and learn on the fly and as needed.Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) required. EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION / TRAININGVarious EMC, NetApp, Brocade, VCP and related training and certification a plus. 4-year IT related college degree or equivalent work experience.Vacancy expired!
