SUMMARY

Under immediate supervision by their shift Team Leader and Process Leader the Seasonal Winery Worker performs various duties within the winery. The Seasonal Winery Worker performs a variety of general laboring activities, including sanitation. The Seasonal Winery Worker position is the entry level into many of the Winery's Production Department hourly positions.

COMPENSATION:

$17.40

You must be available to work the full Harvest which runs from June - November.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Cleans and sanitizes areas of the Winery using liquid chlorine dioxide, water hoses, brooms, and shovels.Cleans and sanitizes interior of tanks and hoses using caustic based chemicals, or liquid chlorine dioxide.Cleans and sanitizes exterior of equipment using liquid chlorine dioxide and brushes.Operates forklift if properly trained to do so, to transport trash gondolas, pallets of treatment chemicals or sand.Required at times to climb to elevated heights of forty (40) feet, for jobs located on the tank tops. Operates tractor/ trailer or dump truck, if properly trained to do so, to dispose of solid material to the ranch siteWith proper safety training, uses caustic solution to remove tartrate material from refrigeration equipment.Moves portable pumps that are attached to 4-wheel carts.Mixes chemical treatments or fining agents.Sluices tanks using 1½" or 2" sluice hoses.Takes gauges on tank levels by bottom or top gauging methods.Builds hose line ups utilizing pumps for product transfer, tank cleaning, or treatments.Removes and install tank top manhole covers and tank fans made of solid or expanded metal.Washes the exterior of tanks using chemical cleaning solution.Uses steam cleaner or high-pressure cleaner to clean filter, filter leafs, and other equipment.Cleans restrooms using mop and sanitizing cleaners and perform all associated janitorial functions.Empties trash cans.Cleans cooling towers.Samples juice and fermenting tanks.Adds sulfur dioxide to the product as needed, if properly trained to do so.Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate, OR Prior Gallo seasonal work experience eligible for re-hire.Required to be at least 18 years of age.Skilled in reading, writing and understanding the English language.Required to work any shift.Required to lift up to 60 pounds.Required at times to climb to elevated heights of forty (40) feet, for jobs located on the tank tops.Required to work overtime if necessary.The position requires seasonal availability for a seven-day work week (8 - 12 hours per day).Skilled in reading, comprehending, interpreting and executing simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.Skilled in writing simple correspondence.Skilled in adding, subtracting, multiplying and dividing using whole numbers.Required to comply with company GMP Policies.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

High School diploma or State-issued equivalency certificate plus1 year of experience working in a manufacturing production environment.Prior Gallo work experience.Prior experience which required physical labor working in outdoor conditions.Experience working in a Winery production facility.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to: Stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear. Stand and walk almost the entire workday. Properly lift and carry up to 28 pounds constantly with torso rotation and neck movement. Properly lift and carry up to 60 pounds occasionally.Employees must be physically capable of working in any of the job tasks within the winery. Work at heights and in fairly small areas. Pushing, pulling, reaching, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, handling and grasping, twisting/turning, repetitive bending up to 50 pounds. Proper stand up lifts of 50 pounds.

The work is performed outdoors, in ambient weather conditions, which fluctuates in temperature extremes from + 32oF to + 115oF.
