Bayer is committed to improving cardiorenal health both in the US and globally with currently available products and products in development, including investigational treatments for chronic kidney disease (CKD), heart failure with reduced and preserved ejection fraction, and renal anemia. Given the profound burden of CKD in T2D, Bayer is making significant investments in developing a treatment option for the disease. Currently Bayer is conducting Phase III clinical trials in approximately 40 countries with 180+ investigational sites in the US alone.YOUR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe primary responsibilities of this role, Area Business Director - Southwest, are to:

Be accountable to leverage knowledge of payer environment and key business issues to create a forward thinking proactive regional sales plan implemented by aligned teams;

Ensure area resources are collaborating with all Bayer stakeholder teams (One Bayer);

Monitor business performance of area and top accounts;

Identify and pro-actively address any business gaps with appropriate measure;

Develop and implement field sales plan supporting marketing strategies and tactics to provide guidance to aligned field sales force for optimum efficiency and motivational effort;

Provide compelling and motivational leadership to sales team;

Be responsible to hire/train/mentor Regional Sales Managers;

Develop and drive succession planning efforts on aligning people capabilities with the changing needs of the organization;

Ensure that a sales personnel development training plan is implemented throughout the region;

Hold the region accountable to training standards;

Develop a "deep bench" for succession planning at all roles & management levels;

Identify trends for competitive landscape within the region;

Provide perspective about emerging trends within the regional marketplace;

Provide feedback to marketing, medical and sales leadership;

Manage regional budget and resource needs for the area;

Provide strategic feedback, measures and issues to pharmacovigilance (VP) of Sales;

Foster new business opportunities and development in the region;

Provide recommendations for improvements or enhancement of product launch strategies and marketing plans;

Allocate resources within the region;

Measure Return on Investment;

Ensure successful implementation of business goals set by VP Sales;

Provide feedback to VP Sales about Incentive Compensation, measurement of performance against (progress);

Develop long term relationships with influential customers to address current and future business issues;

Build effective and impactful strategic alliances with key customers;

Effectively navigate the organization to enable increased area efficiency and productivity.

WHO YOU AREYour success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree;

At least 10 years of experience in pharmaceutical sales;

At least three years of sales management experience;

Demonstrated communication competencies;

Experience in managing budgets;

Ability to lead and develop district sales leaders;

A valid driver’s license and safe driving record;

Ability to travel routinely on a weekly basis (i.e., typical travel schedule is Tues – Thurs with overnights on Tues & Wed);

Experience in multiple commercial functional areas of the business (e.g. Managed Care, Brand Team/Marketing and Sales Operations);

Ability to identify strategies with greatest business impact, formulate an appropriate business plan and enroll their teams to execute the plan;

Exhibited ability to manage multiple, concurrent work-streams in diverse functional/therapeutic areas;

Successful work experience in team selling environments, inclusive of successful management of teams;

Strong Key Opinion Leader Development;

Preference in working and leading a sales team in an institutional market (formulary, stocking, and protocol development).

Preferred Qualifications:

Prefer Diabetes and CV experience;

Experience in leading first line managers;

Thorough understanding of customer segments and regional market dynamics within all therapeutic areas;

Demonstrate the ability to work with a successfully integrate a CSO.
