He/She is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. He/She ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner consistent with the units standard of care. Utilizes nursing skills to determine the biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self care and educational needs of the patient/family/significant other to develop, implement and revise the plan of care.Cardio Pulmonary Rehab - Performs cardiovascular and pulmonary assessment and care in the provision of outpatient Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation. Recognizes and initiates appropriate actions in emergency situations. Contributes nursing expertise in the development of policies, procedures and standards of patient care. Utilizes nursing skills to determine the biophysical, psychological, environmental, self care and educational needs of the patient/family/significant other to develop, implement and revise the plan of care.Emergency Services - The Emergency Services (ES) Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for performing the functions of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care of patients with perceived, actual or potential, sudden or urgent, physical or psychosocial problems that are primarily episodic or acute and that occur in a variety of settings. These may require minimal care of life support measures, patient and significant other education, appropriate referral, and knowledge of legal implications. Emergency patients may be neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult or geriatric with diagnosed, undiagnosed or misdiagnosed problems of varying complexity.MBCU - The Staff RN is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for couplet care. He/she is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific for the postpartum mother and newborn. He/she ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner consistent with the unit's standard of care. Utilizes nursing skills to determine the biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self care and educational needs of the patient/family/significant other to develop, implement and revise the plan of care.NICU - The Staff RN is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for the NICU patient. She/he is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific for the high-risk neonate. She/he ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner consistent with the unit's standard of care. Provides family centered education.OB L&D FPH - The Staff RN is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a labor patient for a designated time frame and is also accountable for couplet care. He/She provides medical screening exam for appropriate disposition of patients. Assesses patient during labor, delivery and post partum. Provides newborn assessment. Assess resuscitation needs of the newborn. He/She is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific for the patient in labor and for the post partum mother and newborn. Provides care for ante partum population. He/She ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner consistent with the unit's standard of care. Utilizes nursing skills to determine the biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self care and educational needs of the patient/family/significant other to develop, implement and revise the plan of care. Provides family centered education.OPHA - The Staff RN is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame. He/She is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. He/She ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner consistent with the unit's standard of care. Utilizes nursing skills to determine the biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self care and educational needs of the patient/family/significant other to develop, implement and revise the plan of care. The RN OPHA interviews patients. Provides preop patient history, data collection, and other pertinent information pertaining to surgical procedure. Obtains and initiates pre op orders. Identifies any issues and takes appropriate action. Obtains consent and any other pertinent issues with patient/family/caregiver. Works closely with admitting, case management, and other health care team members as appropriate. Provides education related to surgical procedure and/or self care needs.OR - The Staff RN is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame. He/She is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the patient population served on the assigned units. He/She ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner consistent with the unit's standard of care. Utilizes nursing skills to determine the biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self care and educational needs of the patient/family/significant other to develop, implement and revise the plan of care. The Operating Room Staff RN is responsible for the supervision/delivery of perioperative care to patients from pediatric through the life span using the nursing process.Parkside West - The Staff Nurse is responsible for providing safe, effective, nursing care to the acute psychiatric patient using the nursing process, accepted standards of psychiatric mental health nursing and the policies and procedures of Emanate Health using individual, group and milieu modalities for the acute population of adults and geriatric patients. Care is provided through a team nursing care delivery system in which the staff nurse may function as lead nurse, medication nurse, intake nurse or assigned RN.PEDS - The Pediatric Registered Nurse performs the functions of assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating the care for infant, pediatric and adolescent patients. The Pediatric Registered Nurse will plan care that fosters all aspects of growth and development. The Pediatric Registered Nurse will consider the child's feelings and individualize care to allow for personal preferences, fears and dislikes. The Pediatric Registered Nurse will use interventions that eliminate or minimize the psychological and physical distresses experienced by children and their families. The Pediatric Registered Nurse utilizes family care-centered principles. The Pediatric Registered Nurse demonstrates knowledge relating to special needs of children in various age groups to adapt care for the patient's optimum physical and emotional well being. The Pediatric Registered Nurse is responsible for meeting the approved Standards of Practice, for managing assigned personnel and unit activities, and for promoting cooperative working relationship with physicians and other health care providers.Perianesthesia - The Perianesthesia R.N. is a professional caregiver who is responsible for assessment of, diagnosis of, intervention for, and evaluation of physical and/ or psychological problems or risks that may result from the administration of sedation/analgesia and anesthetic agents and techniques. Also the R.N. is responsible for the physiological and psychological responses to these agents and the vulnerability of the patient subjected to them; this is coupled with all the principles of medical-surgical and critical care nursing. The R.N. is responsible for all assigned perianesthesia (pre and post op) patients across the age and care continuum. The R.N. will be competent to work pre-op, PACU, and Phase II recovery, as well as monitoring of Moderate Sedation patients in the OR. This position requires taking call on weekends, holidays and afterhours and as the department needs dictate. Characteristics unique to perianesthesia practice are: Preanesthesia phase- Pre-Anesthesia - The nursing role for the patient includes physical, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual preparation for their surgery or procedure. Interview and assessment techniques are used to identify potential or actual problems. Education and interventions are initiated to optimize positive outcomes. Focus is on validation of existing information, reinforcing preoperative teaching, obtaining consent(s) and pertinent information, reviewing discharge instructions and providing nursing care to complete preparation for their surgery or procedure. The R.N. will assure that all documentation is completed prior to the patient leaving for surgery. The R.N. will assure the patient is properly medicated and that IV's are started. Patient belongings will be documented and if at all possible given to a family member. Post-Anesthesia a. Phase 1 - Focus is on providing post-anesthesia nursing care to the patient in the immediate post-anesthesia period, transitioning them to Phase II, the in- patient setting, or to an intensive care setting for continued care. Basic life-sustaining needs are of the highest priority and constant vigilance is required during this phase. The R.N. will be responsible for providing for any Respiratory and/or hemodynamic monitoring needs of the patient and reporting to the Anesthesiologist/Surgeon as needed. b. Phase II - Focus is on preparing the patient/family/significant other for care in the home, or an extended care environment.Job RequirementsMinimum Education Requirement:Emergency Services - Attend at least 4 hours of BRN-approved pediatric education within 6 months of hire date and every year thereafter. May attend a Two-day approved EDAP/ENPC course every 4 years (QVH Only).Outpatient Would Care - BSN preferred.Perianesthesia - Minimum ASN with BSN preferred.Minimum Experience Requirement:All (1) newly graduated nurses, (2) re-entry nurses, and (3) nurses new to the U.S. healthcare system must satisfactorily complete the Emanate Health R.N. Residency Program within the first 6 months of employment at Emanate Health. Excellent customer service skills required.ACC/ PACU - Critical Care experience preferred.Cardio Pulmonary Rehab - Cardiac experience preferred. Two years experience in critical care preferred. Excellent verbal, written and communication and organizational skills. Excellent people skills. Ability to read and write in the English language.DOU/ CCU/ ICU/ SICU/ NEURO - One year critical care experience is preferred.Emergency Services - One (1) year clinical experience is preferred. Emergency or Critical Care nursing experience preferred. For those with no prior emergency room experience, the Basic ER Nursing Course is to be completed within 6 months of hire.GI Lab/ OR - One year of operating room experience is preferred.Parkside West - Re-entry psychiatric nurses and psychiatric nurses new to the U.S. healthcare system must satisfactorily complete the Emanate Health R.N. Residency Program within the first 6 months of employment at Emanate Health. Previous psychiatric nursing experience is required with at least one year in psychiatric setting. Excellent customer service skills required.PEDS - Previous Pediatric Nursing experience preferred.Perianesthesia - Minimum of 1 year experience in adult critical care. Critical Care Course certificate preferred. All new graduate nurses, re-entry nurses, and nurses new to the U.S. healthcare system must satisfactorily complete the Emanate Health RN Residency program, obtain a Critical Care Course certificate and train for three months prior to functioning independently within the department. Must demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, be detailed oriented and capable of multi-tasking. The R.N. will be able to respond rapidly to changing clinical situations in the inpatient and outpatient care arenas with high clinical acumen and strong crisis management skills. Highly motivated and self-directed, will demonstrate ability to function independently and exhibit high levels of independent problem solving skills and decision making capabilities.TCU - SNF experience preferred. Knowledge of MDS assessments preferred. Must have knowledge of Title 22 and OBRA regulations.Minimum License Requirement:Current RN license in the State of California. Maintains BLS certification.ACC/ Cadio Pulmonary RehabDOU/ CCU/ ICU/ SICU/ NEURO - ACLS certification is required within 3 months of hire/transfer. National Institutes of Health (NIH) Stroke Scale Certification "A" required within 3 months of hire/transfer for those working in ICU, SICU, CCU, NSU and DOU (Excludes 3DOU at QVH).Emergency Services - ACLS and PALS Certification required within 3 months of hire. AB 508, NVP, CPI, BVP, or alternative certification meeting AB 508 Bill requirements required upon hire. MAB required within 30 days of hire or by the next available class. Certification is renewed annually (cert. expires end of month in which training takes place). National Institutes of Health (NIH) Stroke Scale Certification "A" required within 3 months of hire/transfer for those working at QVH and FPH. CEN preferred.GI Lab/ OR - ACLS required within 3 months of hire.MBCU/ NICU - NRP required within 6 months of date of hire/transfer.MedSurg/ Rehab/ DCU - Chemo Certification required within one year of hire/transfer for those working at ICH Med Surg 2nd floor and QVH Med Surg 4th Floor.OB L&D - Experienced L&D RN requires AWHONN Advanced Fetal Heart Monitoring and NRP. ACLS within 90 days of hire. RN accepted in the L&D Training Programs will obtain NRP and ACLS within 4 months of hire. Basic Fetal Monitoring will be provided in the L&D Training Program.OB L&D FPH - NRP certification is required 90 days of date of hire/transfer. Basic or Advanced Fetal Monitoring required within 90 days of hire.
